Given how Switch is one of Nintendo’s best-selling platforms of all time, it’s been no surprise to see that many game series have taken off on the system. This has now been highlighted in an official graphic.
Nintendo has given us a look at how Pikmin, Kirby, Metroid, and Xenoblade Chronicles have performed on Switch. When put up against Wii U and 3DS, the comparison isn’t really close. Furukawa stated that membership has increased overall since 2018, and it was “driven by titles that support online play.” It was also confirmed that there was a year-over-year decrease in membership, which he attributed to “fewer new releases in the past year focusing on online play”.

Nintendo Switch 2 to support backwards compatibility, Switch Online
Posted on 1 month ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch, Switch 2 | 0 comments
Nintendo just gave an update on Switch 2 during its Corporate Management Policy Briefing. According to president Shuntaro Furukawa, backwards compatibility is planned – meaning you’ll be able to play current Switch software on the system. Furthermore, Nintendo Switch Online will be extended to the new platform.
In hindsight, both of these elements feel like fairly obvious inclusions. For one thing, Nintendo has looked to continually increase the appeal of Switch Online over the years with additional benefits, including last week’s launch of Nintendo Music. Also, while there have been some exceptions, Nintendo has been known for its backwards compatibility functionality with many of its devices.
