Playtonic has come out with the very first trailer for Yooka-Laylee, which you can watch below. The video confirms a new launch timing of Q1 2017. The game was originally planned for release this October.

Playtonic shared the following regarding the delay:

While we felt confident we could ship the game in October as originally projected in our Kickstarter, the Playtonic team has decided that it would prefer to add a few extra months’ polish to the game schedule.

Ultimately, this will allow us to deliver a better game to the tens-of-thousands of you who’ve supported us throughout development. And that’s what we all want, right?

We’re sure some will be disappointed by the prospect of a few extra months’ wait, however the team is confident that we’ve made the right decision for the game and that you’ll be pleased with the results when Yooka-Laylee arrives early next year.

The Play Nintendo Tour is returning once again this year. Between June 17 and September 5, Nintendo will host a 12-city tour at malls and other locations in the United States. Fans will be able to play various 3DS games, participate in contests, nab prizes, and partake in photo opportunities.

Here’s what Nintendo has planned in terms of activities:

Visitors can hop into a Yoshi egg to play Yoshi’s New Island, recline on a giant banana while checking out Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D and relax in pink beanbag chairs to play one of the newest games, Kirby: Planet Robobot, which launches on June 10. People who are into cool family photos or amazing selfies can take some snaps next to a huge Kirby figure, beside an oversized Yoshi egg, inside a barrel flanked by Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong, under a devastating blue Spiny Shell in the Mario Kart 7 area or next to a giant Pokéball in the Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire region. The New Super Mario Bros. 2 section features a photogenic flagpole, stacks of coins and a warp pipe, while the YO-KAI WATCH area makes people look like they have stepped into Springdale, the town in the game, complete with mischievous Yo-kai lurking about.

And list of locations:

June 17-19: Westfield Culver City – Los Angeles
June 24-26: Arrowhead Towne Center – Glendale, Arizona
July 1-3: FlatIron Crossing – Broomfield, Colorado
July 8-10: Mall of America – Bloomington, Minnesota
July 15-17: Bite of Seattle – Seattle
July 21-24: Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina – San Diego

If you happen to own Disney Infinity 3.0, a new update should be awaiting you. I imagine that the patch makes room for the Finding Dory content. Perhaps this will be the final update for the game…

BlitWorks has ported some big indie titles to Wii U. The studio just brought Super Meat Boy to the eShop last month, and previously worked on Don’t Starve as well as Badland. They’re not stopping there though. BlitWorks is currently cooking up Wii U versions of the Metroid-esque Axiom Verge and the F-Zero-inspired racer The Next Penelope.

We recently caught up with BlitWorks co-founder Ángel Horna to learn more about BlitWorks and what it’s like porting games to Wii U. Horna spoke about why the eShop version of Super Meat Boy wasn’t an entirely easy task (and how it came about in the first place), gave updates on The Next Penelope as well as Axiom Verge, and much more.
