Switch

New footage of Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time has emerged thanks to a behind the scenes video, which debuted at PAX East 2020. We have it below.

Note that the audio isn’t perfect due to how it was presented, but can still be heard.

Two Point Hospital

Two Point Hospital finally arrived on consoles last week following a previous delay. Interestingly, it’s Switch where the game did best. GamesIndustry reports that Two Point Hospital had 55 percent of its boxed sales on Switch, followed by 34 percent for PS4 and 12 percent for Xbox One.

We should have the full UK software sales within the next day or so. For now, you can find the top ten below.

Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD was added to the Switch eShop a little while ago, but as we previously heard, a physical version is in the cards. Amazon has now opened one of the first product listings for the retail edition.

We have the boxart for Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD above. According to the listing, the game will cost $29.99 at retail. You can pre-order on Amazon here.

Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time, a new game based on the television show, was announced earlier this week. Adult Swim Games followed that right up with a panel at PAX East 2020 that featured series creator Genndy Tartakovsky and head writer Darrick Bachman.

New information from that panel was revealed, including details on the game’s story. We’ve rounded up the various tidbits below.

Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers

Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers came out in Japan last week where it sold about 160,000 copies. Media Create has the Switch version at 46,415 units and another 115,995 for the PS4 version. According to Dengeki, the game sold through 75 percent of its initial shipment.

Persona 5 Scramble didn’t sell as many copies as Persona 5 Royal – a redone version of Atlus’ RPG – which initially moved 210,000 units. However, given the sell-through rate, it’s off to a strong start.

We’ll also mention that Katana Kami: Way of the Samurai Story sold through 75 percent of its initial shipment as well. Between Switch and PS4, it moved almost 20,000 copies – though the Switch version did a bit worse at 7,392 units.

Two samurai silently face one another in a desolate field in feudal Japan. After a few seconds of tension, one of them suddenly draws his katana and strikes – yet his opponent blocks the attack just in time. As one samurai recoils, the other counters with a quick jab followed by a massive slash, slicing their enemy in half and concluding the battle in just a few strikes. This encounter is typical of Samurai Shodown, a gorgeous and gruesome fighting game set in feudal Japan that focuses heavily on strategy, timing, and making the most of every attack. After reviving its once-great fighting series on other platforms last year, SNK has finally brought this reboot of Samurai Shodown to Switch. So the question remains: can Samurai Shodown truly show up on Nintendo’s console?

Earlier this week, PlatinumGames announced Project G.G. from director Hideki Kamiya. It’s intended to be a third part of Kamiya’s hero trilogy following Viewtiful Joe and The Wonderful 101. This time around, the theme is based around a giant hero.

PlatinumGames had previously mentioned to Famitsu that the studio was targeting pretty much every platform with Project G.G. While speaking with IGN, studio head Atsushi Inaba officially named Switch as one of those systems the company is pursuing for the new title. PlatinumGames ultimately hopes to release on all main platforms when the game launches.

Doom Eternal

Doom Eternal won’t be launching on Switch this month alongside other platforms, but it sounds like the wait will be worth it. Marty Stratton, who has been heading up the game, told USgamer that he’s “stunned” by the game on Nintendo’s console. He also think it’ll surprise people given what Panic Button has managed to pull off on Switch.

Extra care is being put in to ensure that Doom Eternal isn’t compromised on Switch. That also extends to ensuring that the game looks and feels great whether you’re playing docked or in portable mode.
