Nintendo accidentally advertised a FIFA 19 in-game event that isn’t actually in the Switch version
Posted on 6 years ago by Matt(@OnePunchMaz) in News, Switch | 0 comments
A bit of an unusual mishap occured with FIFA 19 on Nintendo Switch. As with FIFA 18, the game doesn’t have complete feature parity with other versions of the game and is missing some modes and options. FIFA 19 on Switch is also not getting some limited time events, such as the current “FUTMAS” event centered around the game’s popular Ultimate Team mode. However, it seems even Nintendo is getting confused on which content is in the Switch version, as they actually advertised the FUTMAS event on Twitter and on the Switch’s own news channel. An EA community manager on the game’s official forum responded to the issue, acknowledging that the advertising message on the Switch news channel wasn’t intended to be published, and that EA was working on getting it removed. Nintendo of America’s tweet is still up, however.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – version 1.2.1 out now
Posted on 6 years ago by Matt(@OnePunchMaz) in News, Switch | 0 comments
A new update is now available for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which brings the game up to version 1.2.1. This is a rather small update, however the patch notes are pretty vague, only stating that “Several issues have been fixed to improve gameplay experience”. Based on the formatting for the previous patch notes, it seems like no individual characters received any changes in this patch. As such, replays are compatible with the previous version, 1.2.0. However, version 1.2.1 is required for online and local wireless multiplayer.
Suda51 again talks about a possible Killer7 port on Switch, says it’s up to Capcom
Posted on 6 years ago by Matt(@OnePunchMaz) in News, Switch | 0 comments
Suda51 is currently busy promoting the upcoming Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes, which will launch next month on Nintendo Switch. In a recent interview with Fandom Wikia, he was also asked about one of his previous games: Killer7, and whether or not there’s a chance for a Switch version of it. Here’s his response:
“I’d love to bring Killer7 to Switch. However, Capcom owns 100% of the rights to that game, it’s really thanks to them that the PC version came out at all just because they OK’d it and a publisher came along to help distribute it, which is really great. But I’d have to talk to them again to see if it’s possible to get the ball rolling on Switch. The thing about Killer 7 is that it really was a sudden release, we weren’t able to do much promotion for it before it came out, so I really feel like I have a duty to make sure that people are even aware that it exists.”
This isn’t the first time Suda51 talked about a possible Killer7 release on Nintendo Switch. Back in September, he said that strong sales of the recent Steam release of the game could lead to a Switch version.

Nintendo still believes Switch will reach 100 million in software sales, but less sure on 20 million hardware target
Posted on 6 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 0 comments
Japanese publication Kyoto Shimbun recently spoke with Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa. During the discussion, Furukawa mentioned that Switch and its games have done well so far this holiday season. Also, the company still expects to hit 100 million units in software sales by March 2019.
From April to September alone, Switch software sales were around 42 million. The rapid release of titles helped for the increased demand this holiday season. Smash Bros. Ultimate, Super Mario Party, and Pokemon: Let’s Go have all proven popular.
Furukawa also briefly addressed Nintendo’s current goal of selling 20 million Switch consoles sold this fiscal year. He did acknowledge that it’s not an easy goal to meet, and it can’t be predicted how the new year will go. However, Furukawa hopes that the Switch’s playstyle and its portability will keep attracting people, and Nintendo will continue to release new titles.

Thimbleweed Park has sold the most on Switch
Posted on 6 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 0 comments
Back during the summer, Terrible Toybox said that Thimbleweed Park had been doing very well on Switch. It was also clear that the Switch version would soon be overtaking Steam as the game’s most-successful platform. Creator Ron Gilbert provided an update today.
Switch has in fact now topped every other platform regarding Thimbleweed Park’s sales. Life-to-date, Nintendo’s console accounts for 32.4%. Platforms like Steam also had a lead here, which Gilbert says “makes the Switch all the more impressive.”
