The Telegraph has put up a pretty lengthy interview with Nintendo’s Yoshiaki Koizumi and Shinya Takahashi all about Switch. Topics include third-parties, talk of the system’s price and power, paid online service, and more. Additionally, we hear some comments that Nintendo is planning 3DS games for 2018.

Before Splatoon released for Wii U, Nintendo made something known as the “Splatoon Global Testfire”. It was a limited online demo which allowed fans to get a taste for what the game had to offer at certain days / times. For Splatoon 2, Nintendo has announced that this will be returning.

Splatoon 2 Global Testfire will be hosted in late March. Players will be able to try out four different main weapons, including the new Splat Dualies, plus remixed versions of the iconic Splat Roller and Splat Charger.

If you listen closely to the sounds and music playing in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, you might be able to hear a classic tune. Fans have discovered that a certain theme plays while you’re out exploring Hyrule Field. It’s subtle though, so it might not be entirely easy to detect.

4Gamer posted its own interview with Arms producer Kosuke Yabuki yesterday. Most of the content rehashes what we covered extensively in Famitsu’s interview last week, but there are a few extra tidbits here.

First, Yabuki said that you’ll initially be able to choose from three arms in the final version of the game just like the demo. He hopes players will look forward to how this changes later.

Yabuki was also asked if players will be able to obtain new arms by defeating enemies. To this, he said that he can’t say yet, but would like to propose something that meets expectations.

Nintendo’s two Switch games now have download codes on Amazon UK. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and 1-2-Switch can both be “pre-ordered”.

We should point out that the digital versions cost more than the physical releases on Amazon UK. Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s boxed version is £49.99, but a digital copy is going for £59.99. 1-2-Switch is also higher at £39.99 as opposed to £34.99.

In case you’re wondering, Zelda: Breath of the Wild for Wii U also now has a download code option on Amazon UK.

It’s already known that in Splatoon 2, up to eight Switch systems can be connected through local wireless. But on the series’ Tumblr page, Nintendo spoke about another secret LAN Play feature. This can be used to connect eight docked systems using a wired LAN setup. In doing so, you can participate in local Private Battle tournaments without connecting to the internet.

Nintendo adds:

“If you’re willing to put in the work to set up LAN Play, you can also use the Private Battle Spectator View feature by hooking up two additional Nintendo Switch systems. Local wireless play is perfect for your regular gaming get-togethers, but LAN Play is where it’s at when you want to organize a serious tournament event with your fellow players.”

Update: Here’s the news from Nintendo of America:

Original: Nintendo just shared an important piece of news about Splatoon 2 on the series’ official Twitter page.

Splatoon 2 has a “Private Battle Spectator View”, or basically a spectator mode. Other than the first eight participants who are playing, the ninth and tenth players can join as cameramen to view the battle. They can switch between bird’s-eye view and other players’ third-person views.

Two people can act as cameramen. If they wanted to, they could live stream using the special mode view, and could be broadcasters or commentators like a baseball game or Splatoon Koshien tournament. You also can show the turf map, so you can switch between each cameraman’s role, like one cameraman showing each player’s view while the other shows the map to determine how the battle is going.
