Pokken Tournament sold through 37% of its initial shipment in Japan
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 31 Comments
Pokken Tournament sold just under 70,000 in its first week in Japan. That’s based on information from Media Create, who collected data starting with the game’s launch on March 18 up through March 20. We now have more analysis from the sales tracker.
According to Media Create, Pokken Tournament sold through 36.65 percent of its initial shipment, which may seem low for a collaboration title between Pokemon and Tekken. Pokken Tournament’s near term sales future may depend on families who are familiar with Pokemon and how much this new game appeals to them during spring break.
On the topic of Wii U hardware, the Pokken Tournament bundle sold 4,000 units. The console surpassed 10,000 units in Japan for the first time in eight weeks.

Smash Bros. Wii U “bidou” moves have some wavedashing similarities
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 12 Comments
Wavedashing, a well-known Smash Bros. technique, hasn’t been seen since Melee. However, players are now starting to explore some “bidou” moves in the series’ latest entry that is reminiscent of it in some ways.
To execute these techniques, a Wii U Pro Controller is preferred, and most buttons need to be remapped. For the most part, it relies on pressing and holding the special move button.
Kotaku explains the benefits of bidou in a new post today:
Bidou opens up the possibility to make perfect pivots easier, pull off crouching perfect pivots, sliding spot dodges, standing dash attacks, and achieve frame accuracy on wall jump attacks. It also makes dash dancing much easier and opens up a brand new tech called “quick step,” which is an even smaller movement than the perfect pivot. What that means in short: reduced lag, better momentum control, and being able to get moves out when you need them.
Here’s a look at bidou from My Smash Corner:
A big question here is how useful bidou will be in the end. Will it be patched in the future?

Sakurai Famitsu column summary – Smash Bros. eSport thoughts and more
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, General Nintendo, News, Wii U | 41 Comments
Super Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai is back with another Famitsu column in this week’s magazine. This time around, Sakurai tackled a few questions from fans.
Here’s a summary of what was shared:
What’s better: printed or digital manuals?
Sakurai points out that he only reads manuals when he’s really stuck, so either way is fine. But for digital versions, it’d be better if they load up as fast as possible. (Note: Many people consider printed guides to be more convenient because they’re not located on the same screen).
