Wii U

Bandai Namco’s mysterious new free-to-play game formerly known as Project Treasure, which was recently revealed as Lost Reavers, has now released the Beta for players in Japan to try. The free-to-play Wii U exclusive has you and other players attempting to reach the end of dungeons with a specific set of skills dependent on your character while collecting treasures along the way. You can read up more on the various characters and watch its brand new trailer here.

No word yet on when or if we’ll be seeing this Beta make its way over to the west.

Thanks Niels for the heads up!

Leading up to Super Mario Maker’s release on Sept. 11th, we’re highlighting some of the coolest, most creative, or just plain ridiculous levels users have created so far. In this episode, we check out the level “The Great Goomba March” from Dalagonash in the UK, who piles in more goombas per square foot than we’ve ever seen in a Mario level!

Let us know if you have any suggestions for levels we should cover in the comments and we’ll check it out!

Since his debut in the 80’s, Nintendo’s famous plumber has spawned a plethora of games, touching upon nearly every genre and delivering smiles to people all over the world. Shigeru Miyamoto’s excellence in game design and character creation is one that’s been seminal and is responsible for copious amounts of developers’ paths to where they are today.

Until Super Mario 64, most mainline Super Mario games had been side-scrolling platformers. With its addictive gameplay and unique design, Mario went on to become one of the gaming world’s most unique and well known characters in gaming history. Mario has become an iconic character known globally even to those unfamiliar with the medium. With countless ROM hacks for the various Super Mario titles from the original to 3 to World plaguing the internet for years, now you can design your own Mario levels seamlessly with the Wii U GamePad easily, and the possibilities are endless.

We have the official word on the 30th Anniversary Mario – Modern Color amiibo. In the United States, the only way to purchase the figure at launch is by obtaining the Super Mario Mario Deluxe Set. That’s according to a message on the North American amiibo website.

It’s a bit of a bummer, but it sounds like it will only be a matter of time before this 8-bit Mario amiibo will be widely available. If you want the figure immediately, importing may be your only option!
