Two new Virtual Console games are on track for the Japanese Wii U eShop next week. Zelda: A Link to the Past (Super Famicom) and Marvelous: Mōhitotsu no Takarajima (Super Famicom) will be out on February 12. Pricing is set at 900 yen and 800 yen respectively.

ReVeN successfully funded on Kickstarter

Indie project ReVeN has been successfully funded on Kickstarter. Varia Games managed to reach its $18,000 funding goal just a short while ago, meaning the team’s new game will make its way to Wii U sometime in the future.
If ReVeN raises $100,000 before February 22, Varia will hire a programmer so that the game can take full advantage of the Wii U GamePad and features in general. A second programmer will also be brought in so that the title can be polished further.

Mighty No. 9 live adaptation on the way

Believe it or not, Mighty No. 9 will be seeing a live action adaptation of some kind.
Tim Carter, writer and producer over at Contradiction Films, told The Electric Playground that he’s currently working on the story. It’s unclear if the project will be a web series, film, or something else entirely.
Carter stated:
“We are building the story right now. Inafune-san created [Mega Man], and he has now created Mighty Number 9. We don’t have the rights to Mega Man, obviously, but we are working with him on a live action adaptation of it.”
On the topic of Keiji Inafune, Carter said, “I was a little apprehensive about it at first until I got his notes, and thought ‘Dude, you should be working at Pixar!'”

Gargoyle’s Quest II rated by the OFLC

Gargoyle’s Quest II: The Demon Darkness has been rated by the OFLC. That should hint at a new Virtual Console release, though Capcom hasn’t made any official announcements as of yet. Since the Game Boy version of Gargoyle’s Quest II never launched outside of Japan, OFLC’s rating likely pertains to the NES version.
FAST Racing Neo details coming after Shin’en’s next Wii U game reveal

Shin’en announced FAST Racing Neo towards the end of last year, but we never received any concrete details about the game. So when can fans expect actual information?
According to Shin’en, details will be shared after the studio unveils its second new Wii U title. Based on a previous tease, that should be happening soon.

Development of The ’90s Arcade Racer on Wii U discussed, likely 60FPS at 720p, out in mid-2014

Over on its blog, Nicalis provided an update on the Wii U version of The ’90s Arcade Racer.
Bringing the game over “from PC/windows environment to Wii U has been a straight forward process since the project is being built on top of Unity and the team porting Unity to Wii U have obviously been doing a great job,” it was explained.
And regarding the game’s technical aspects:
Without getting into minutia that we’re probably not allowed to share in great detail, some things that worked on PC couldn’t be ported exactly Wii U without having affecting how the game performs on the Nintendo console–and probably other consoles, too. However, we’re very happy with the results. Fidelity, image quality and a smooth framerate are our priorities. Detractors note, Wii U is proving very capable of running the game at 60fps at 720p with 4xMSAA and FXAA resulting in a crystal clear image. It’s simply beautiful.
The lead programmer on ’90s Arcade Racer has been busy working on the game’s AI, among other elements. Ultimately, the goal is to support 30 cars in each race.
The ’90s Arcade Racer doesn’t have a release date at this time, though mid-2014 is currently targeted.

A World of Keflings hitting Wii U within the next couple of months

A World of Keflings’s arrival on Wii U isn’t far off. According to developer NinjaBee, the game will be available sometime within the next couple of months.
NinjaBee is also tinkering around with some ideas for new projects. You can find information about the studio’s plans here.
