Pikmin Short Movies, Hey! Pikmin wallpaper added to My Nintendo in North America

My Nintendo added in three new rewards for North American members today. Each one is centered around Pikmin.
First up is Pikmin Short Movies HD (Wii U) and Pikmin Short Movies 3D (3DS). Both of these are 40 Gold Points each. You can also nab a Hey! Pikmin wallpaper for 50 Platinum Points.
The Pikmin Short Movies will be on My Nintendo until the start of September. You can use your points on the wallpaper until November 1.

Minecraft: Nintendo Switch / Wii U Edition maintenance taking place tonight

Minecraft is receiving a new update on Switch and Wii U tonight. In conjunction with that, both versions will be undergoing maintenance.
The schedule is as follows:
– 6:50 PM PT (June 27) – 8:30 PM PT (June 27)
– 9:50 PM ET (June 27) – 11:30 PM ET (June 27)
– 2:50 AM in the UK (June 28) – 4:30 AM in the UK (June 28)
– 3:50 AM in Europe (June 28) – 5:30 AM in Europe (June 28)
All network services for Minecraft will be down during the maintenance period.
Nintendo sheds some light on Midna’s design and her helmet

The next blog post from Nintendo counting down to the release of DLC Pack 1 for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is live. This one dives into the design of Midna from Twilight Princess, since Midna’s Helmet is one of the pieces of equipment included in DLC Pack 1.
Hello. I’m Takizawa, Art Director of The Legend of Zelda™: Breath of the Wild.
In DLC Pack 1: The Master Trials, players can find Midna’s Helmet in one of the chests hidden in the world (this DLC is only available through the purchase of the Expansion Pass).
Midna appeared in the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess game for Wii and Nintendo GameCube, and she played an important role as Link’s partner. On the Wolf Link amiibo figure (which was released alongside the Wii U remake of the game, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD), she’s perching on Wolf Link.

The next blog post by Nintendo counting down to the release of the The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s DLC Pack 1 is out now. In it, Iwamoto, the Assistant Director of the game, talks about the Phantom Armor and its origins.

With DLC Pack 1, The Master Trials, you can acquire the armor of a Phantom (this DLC is only available through the purchase of the Expansion Pass).
Depending on your experience with the series, some of you may be wondering, “What’s a Phantom?” Well, Phantoms are a type of knight appearing in The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass and The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks games for the Nintendo DS™ system. In those games, the mysterious armor they wear does not take damage when attacked from the front.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is receiving its first round of DLC from the Expansion Pass this week. To celebrate, Nintendo intends to share five new blog posts about the game each day.
Today’s update pertains to the Korok Mask. Director Hidemaro Fujibayashi talks about the new item, and reveals that the Korok Seeds were originally stone objects.

From now until June 30, we plan to update this site daily with information related to DLC Pack 1, which can only be purchased as part of the Expansion Pass. The Master Trials pack includes new armor you can acquire by finding the right chests.

Rumor: A look into what happened with MercurySteam’s Metroid pitch for Wii U and 3DS

It was rumored a couple of years ago that MercurySteam attempted to pitch a Metroid game for Wii U and 3DS. Then in 2016, the studio denied that report. What makes things really interesting is that, last week, Nintendo and MercurySteam announced Metroid: Samus Returns for 3DS.
So what happened here? Liam Robertson, who reported on the rumor originally, shared his latest findings in a new video.
