Wii U

Miiverse

On Wii U, Miiverse has received a small update in order to match it more closely with the 3DS version.

The update pertains to two features. First, reloading has been switched from the L button to the Y button. Users can also now use the L/R buttons to quickly move up/down between posts.

Miiverse’s Marty shared the update news in an official post made earlier today:

This month’s Game Informer review scores are as follows:

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze – 9.25
Tomb Raider Definitive Edition – 9.25
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII – 7
Broken Age Act 1 – 8.5
Bravely Default – 8
The Banner Saga – 8.5
OlliOlli – 8
Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc – 8.5
Dr. Luigi – 8
Republique – 7.5
Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z – 7
Joe Danger Infinity – 8
Nidhogg – 8
Fable Anniversary – 8

The following tidbits come from Game Informer’s Donkey Kong review:

  • Seems like generic worlds, ice, beach, jungle but “the variety is amazing”
  • Ride minecarts through saw mills, dash through a forest with a raging fire, etc.
  • Great difficulty balance, bonus stages are a bit ridiculous in difficulty though that is expected.
  • Water levels return, are very fun, better to control with analog stick than d-pad. For some reason you have to access the menu to pick one or the other.
  • Dixie and Cranky add new moves that work best to reach certain collectibles or specific platforming challenges. Rotating barrels allow you to select the best Kong for the job.
  • “Local Co-op is as much a mixed bag as the first installment.”
  • 6 worlds instead of 8 in the last game. But each level is larger. Reviewer says it rather have a smaller collection of the best levels Retro can make than a more bloated game with less quality levels and that is exactly what this game does.

This week’s Famitsu review scores are as follows:

Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze (Wii U) – 9/8/9/9
A-Train 3D (3DS) – 9/8/8/8
Magi: Aratanaru Sekai (3DS) – 8/7/7/8
Akaya Akashiya Ayakashino (PSP) – 8/7/8/7

Nintendo has opened the official European website for Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. You can find it here. More footage from the game can also be found above.

While it shouldn’t be the least bit surprising, Disney Interactive and Avalanche Software appear to be working on a Disney Infinity sequel.

One job listing spotted on the Disney Careers website seeks game testers for an Avalanche title. The post specifically requests those who have “familiarity with Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS4, PS3 and Wii U”.

CVG points out that the job listing would likely refer to a brand new game as opposed to additional content for Disney Infinity. And it goes without saying that Disney Interactive would like to capitalize on the strong success of the first entry, and move forward with a sequel.
