Nintendo shared a couple of data points for Switch during its financial results briefing today.

The first thing to point out is that the total amount of Nintendo Switch Online members (combined with Expansion Pack) is at 38 million. The company also says the annual playing Switch users is at 117 million – up from 108 million.

As stated in Nintendo’s document:

Nintendo talked about Switch software sales during a financial results briefing today, and there are three key takeaways.

First, many series have seen an increase in sales with games released on the platform. A number of titles have also gone on to become long-term sellers. Finally, games like Animal Crossing and Kirby have seem more success outside of Japan on Switch.

Nintendo said in its report:

According to Nintendo, The Legend of Zelda has been experiencing a different sales trend on Switch. It goes without saying, but the series has seen a big uptick this generation.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has sold over 30 million copies. It won’t be long before Tears of the Kingdom hits 20 million. Nintendo also says both games have been seeing more success in Japan.

According to a financial results briefing document, over 330 million Nintendo Accounts have been registered. Nintendo says it has even been able to reach consumers where Switch isn’t sold.

The document also acknowledges how, in the past, “it was not easy to maintain users’ information across platform generations”. But now Nintendo Accounts “will be a foundation upon which Nintendo can maintain a lasting relationship with consumers.”

The full note reads:

Nintendo has provided an update on Super Mario Bros. Wonder, revealing that the game has sold 4.3 million copies worldwide. That’s just after two weeks on the market.

With that milestone, Super Mario Bros. Wonder is the fastest-selling Super Mario game ever.

GameXplain put together a new Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 graphics comparison for the Switch and PS5 versions following today’s launch.

One of the biggest differences between the two concerns frame rate. While it’s 60 FPS on PS5, the Switch version brings the action down to 30 FPS. Elsewhere we see some asset changes on Switch and character models that are scaled back on Nintendo’s console.

A new live-action movie for The Legend of Zelda is now in development, Nintendo just announced.

As was the case with The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Shigeru Miyamoto is on board and will act as producer. Avi Arad, chairman of Arad Productions Inc., will be producing as well. Wes Ball is serving as director.

It’s a bit of surprise that it’s taken so long for a game like Fashion Dreamer to land on Switch, especially after developer Syn Sophia’s Style Savvy series of games proved that there’s an audience craving laid-back games about designing clothes. The bulk of recent releases in the genre have been microtransaction-ridden smartphone games, so there’s been some excitement among the cozy-gaming crowd that Fashion Dreamer could be a more premium alternative. It’s also a bit of a departure from its predecessors, focusing more tangibly on the clothes themselves than the culture around them. But is that enough to make Fashion Dreamer an easy recommendation for aspiring clothes designers?
