Forest of Illusion recently got its hands on a prototype of the DS firmware, which believe it or not, actually included blood type selection settings.

This firmware was at version 0.40615, which was well before the handheld system made it to market. Including the ability to set your blood type on the DS was something Nintendo was considering at one point, but ultimately scrapped it from the final product.

As 2022 comes to a close, we’re starting to look forward to next year. 2023 is looking like a huge year for games and that’s in no small part thanks to Nintendo. We want to know: what’s your most anticipated game of next year?

The choice for many will likely be The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Still, it’s not going to be everyone’s cup of tea, and there are other games to look forward to. Nintendo alone has already confirmed Fire Emblem Engage, Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon, Pikmin 4, and Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe. Third-parties will chip in with titles like Octopath Traveler II, Atelier Ryza 3, Hogwarts Legacy, Theatrhythm Final Bar Line, Persona 3 Portable, Persona 4 Golden, SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake, Digimon World: Next Order, and Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection – just to name a few.

So tell us, which game are you most looking forward to in 2023? If you can’t decide on just one, let us know what you’re really excited about in the comments.

Panda Punch has seen its debut on Switch, and we have a new trailer from Ratalaika Games and Ninja Rabbit Studio. The two sides are offering a final look at their puzzle platformer.

Further information about the title can be found in the following overview:

Forest of Illusion has secured a little piece of Nintendo history having shared a prototype build from the localized version of Super Mario World. It has a date of October 25, 1990, which was nearly a year before the game launched in North America.

A number of debugging features are included, which made localization easier for developers. For instance, Mario can access any point of the map without completing the previous stage. Also, when the timer hits zero, he doesn’t die. Other features include being able to instantly complete a level, toggling between different colored Yoshis, cycling through power-ups inside a stage, and moving Mario anywhere on the screen.

A severe vulnerability known as ENLBufferPwn has been found in various Switch, 3DS, and Wii U games. PabloMK7, Rambo6Glaz, Fishguy6564 were credited for the discovery. The vulnerability, first uncovered in 2021, was already reported to Nintendo.

The exploit is especially significant since a victim’s device can be easily taken over. This can be done merely by having an online game session with an attacker. Given the 9.8/10 (Critical) score it received in the CVSS 3.1 calculator, that goes to show how serious it is.

In the 25 years since Final Fantasy VII originally graced PlayStations around the world, this monumental RPG has amassed a legacy that few other games have, and has fittingly been rereleased on a wide range of platforms; it is still, even today, the best-selling entry in the Final Fantasy series of all time. The same can’t quite be said for its many spin-offs, which have typically been trapped on their original systems, but that changes with the launch of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion. Once a PSP-exclusive, this action-combat title serves as a comprehensive prequel to the events of the original game, and its remastered version attempts to bring the visuals closer to the style of the recent Final Fantasy VII Remake. But how does this enhanced version of a 15-year-old game hold up on Switch?

Original (11/30): After the main game previously launched on Switch, it’s now been announced that a soundtrack for Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes will be released in Japan.

The soundtrack will be comprised of four discs and 118 tracks. It’s set for release on March 22, 2023 with a price point of 4,950 yen.

Here’s the full Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes soundtrack song list:

Original (12/6): Mr. Saitou will be released on Switch, it’s been announced. This follows the recent news that Rakuen is heading to the console in March 2023.

Mr. Saitou is the next game in the Rakuen universe. The premise is that following an accident, he’s “spirited away to a strange fantasy world where an unexpected friend takes him on a life-changing adventure.”
