Amiibo

Nintendo will be restocking three amiibo in Japan next month. According to a tweet posted on the company’s Japanese Twitter account, Villager, Captain Falcon, and Little Mac will be available once again in early May. Hopefully we’ll soon begin seeing some amiibo restocks in the west as well!

Update 3: Wario in stock.

Update 2: Inkling Girl gone.

Update: Pac-Man out of stock.

Walmart is taking pre-orders for a few of the upcoming amiibo. You can reserve the Pac-Man figure along with the Inkling Boy and Inkling Girl amiibo at the moment.

Apparently, Walmart put up pre-orders for Lucina and a few other amiibo in the very early hours this morning. I really don’t understand why retailers continue to do these sorts of things at crazy times!

Pre-orders for the Greninja and Jigglypuff amiibo are now live on the Nintendo UK store. You can reserve both figures here. Pricing is set at £10.99 each.

The gold Mario amiibo was distributed by Walmart last month, but we’re still waiting on an official announcement (and launch) of the silver variant. It’s particularly strange then that one fan has already managed to get his hands on a silver Mario.

“matteomax” recently won a Chinese auction for the figure, and although it’s unclear how the seller originally obtained it, everything seems to be legitimate. As shown below, the amiibo came pre-loaded with a silver token for use in Mario Party 10.

One fan recently wrote in to Nintendo’s customer service team about the amiibo shortage situation. In response to this person’s email, the following response was delivered:

Thank you for writing. I apologize for the delay in our reply. I’m sorry to hear of your disappointment with the availability and distribution of amiibo, and would like you to know that we have documented and shared your concerns with the relevant departments here at Nintendo.

Additionally, I’d like to convey that we are aware of the popularity of amiibo and continually aim to always have a regular supply of amiibo in the marketplace. As stated previously, certain sold-out amiibo may return to your local retailer at a later stage. We apologize for any inconvenience you are experiencing now, and thank you in advance for your continued patience in this matter.

The same fan wrote back to Nintendo, and made some accusations about the company manipulating amiibo demand via the supply chain. That led the representative to explain how the supply chain actually works:

More:

Target opened pre-orders for the Jigglypuff amiibo a couple of times, and in both cases, they sold out very quickly. Unfortunately, the retailer has now confirmed that it will no longer be taking on any additional reservations.

You can still try your luck in-store on May 29. Target.com may also have a bit of additional inventory on that same day as well.

A representative told Amiibo Inquirer:

That’s correct. The Jigglypuff Amiibo has been popular! No additional preorders are being taken. Guests can visit stores or Target.com on May 29. Quantities will be limited.
