[Review] Spells & Secrets
Posted on 1 year ago by Dawn in Reviews, Switch | 0 comments
System: Switch
Release date: November 9, 2023
Developer: Alchemist Interactive
Publisher: Merge Games
Roguelikes and roguelites are an interesting genre of games, being predicated as they are on doing the same content repeatedly with incremental progress, in a way that would be extremely frustrating and tedious in just about any other circumstances. It takes a special kind of game to get that balance just right, to make each death feel more like a minor setback than a crushing defeat, and inspire you to venture forth into its murky depths for “just one more run” until you finally succeed. Spells & Secrets., developed by Alchemist Interactive, has some interesting ideas to contribute to the genre, but unfortunately it fails to capture any kind of real magic.
All 3 Toadofsky Melodies in Super Mario RPG
Posted on 1 year ago by Ethan in Guides, Switch | 0 comments
We’ve found all three NPCs and gathered their locations right here, plus the notes you need to play each of the Toadofsky melodies in Super Mario RPG.
Super Mario RPG just dropped for Switch, and one of the first areas you’ll come across in the game is Tadpole Pond. Initially, you’re sent there on a mission to visit the Frog Sage – but there’s something else you can do there, too. Head east from the entrance and you’ll find Toadofsky, a composer looking for inspiration. Throughout Super Mario RPG, there are specific NPCs who teach you a song you can then play for Toadofsky. Unfortunately, you can’t play these songs early – you must talk to each corresponding NPC for Toadofsky to recognize the tune at all.

[Review] My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom – Pirates of the Disturbance

System: Switch
Release date: November 28, 2023
Developer: Idea Factory
Publisher: Idea Factory
Catarina Claes was a very huge brat as a child. She was unruly, selfish, and had a mean streak that made family and staff at her mansion home shy away from her. Born into a noble family, Catarina had everything she could ever want. One day, awakening to memories of her past life as a Japanese high school student, Catarina realized that the life she was currently living was the main plot of a visual novel game, Fortune Lover, from her past world – one where the character she just happened to be born as would meet very unfortunate endings based on the player character’s choices. Understanding that fate was not on her side, she quickly and rapidly changed. The once bratty child devoted herself to overcoming each and every terrible ending she could face, winning the affection of those who would cause her demise in the process, though she does seem to be ignorant to how much her friends come to care for her. That’s the premise of Idea Factory’s latest Switch game, My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom – Pirates of the Disturbance.
Super Mario RPG level up guide and which stats to increase
Posted on 1 year ago by Ethan in Guides, Switch | 0 comments
Super Mario RPG just launched on Switch, and if you’ve been playing the game, then you’ve probably leveled up your characters once or twice. Or ten times. Either way, you might be wondering how to grind extra experience points and which characters’ stats you should increase when they do level up. We’ve gathered all this information and more in our Super Mario RPG level up guide. There are light spoilers ahead, including a small reference to the game’s final area and all of the game’s party members, but nothing else too major. Keep that in mind before you continue.

The magazine discussed her specific story in the game as well as her character and growth, her new hairstyle, and more with director Hidemaro Fujibayashi.
We’ve gone ahead and translated the excerpt below. Just keep in mind that there is a light spoiler touching on one of the cutscenes, though only briefly.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe unlockables list
Posted on 1 year ago by Ethan in Guides, Switch | 0 comments
To celebrate the recent launch of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC, we’ve put together a big list of all the unlockables it has to offer (which isn’t very many, but still). The game just wrapped up its Booster Course Pass, which brings its ten-year lifespan to a close… maybe. Despite its age, the title is still selling boatloads of copies, which means new players are discovering the game every day.

[Review] Yohane the Parhelion: Blaze in the Deepblue
Posted on 1 year ago by Dawn in Reviews, Switch | 0 comments
System: Switch
Release date: November 16, 2023
Developer: Inti Creates
Publisher: Inti Creates
Inti Creates has certainly earned a reputation for developing high quality 2D action titles having brought games such as Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon and its sequel as well as the Blaster Master Zero series to the Switch over the years. The studio’s latest game, Yohane the Parhelion: Blaze in the Deepblue, is based on a fantasy spinoff of Love Live! Sunshine!! The setting lends itself well to a video game and it has a solid foundation that makes it fun while it lasts, but unfortunately it doesn’t capitalize on this enough to make it any more than a middling experience at best.

[Rapid Review] WarioWare: Move It
Posted on 1 year ago by Edan(@@Virtualboi92) in Reviews, Switch | 0 comments
System: Switch
Release date: November 3, 2023
Developer: Intelligent Systems
Publisher: Nintendo
One of the most encouraging things about WarioWare as a franchise, is that it’s always just been like that. Seriously – go back and play 2003’s original entry (which you can enjoy via the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pass), and you’ll see every bit of the quirky and offbeat charm that the series still exudes today, fully formed at its point of origin. Multiple entries across every Nintendo platform since the GBA haven’t dulled the appeal of playing rapid-fire five-second microgames in quick succession. Now we get a traditional WarioWare outing in the form of Warioware: Move It on Switch. A direct continuation of the motion-based waggle-fest that was WarioWare: Smooth Moves on the Wii, this one sees Wario and co. whisked away to an island resort to, let’s face it, just play a bunch of minigames.
