MixedBag announces “forma.8”, planned for Wii U
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 2 Comments
After teasing a new title for Wii U earlier this week, MixedBag has announced “forma.8”. The title is slated for the eShop as well as the PS4, PS Vita, PC, Mac, Linux, and iOS.
forma.8 is a Metroidvania-inspired project set in a distant future. Players will float and explore their way through an alien planet without any sort of direction – everything is conveyed through images and sounds – as they attempt to locate and recover a powerful energy source deep under the surface before it’s too late.
MixedBag says forma.8 is the first Italian-made game announced for a next generation console. It’s also being worked on by just two people.
forma.8 will be shown at EGX Rezzed 2014 in the Leftfield Collection at the end of March.
You’ll find a trailer for the game above. An official announcement with more details is below.

Renegade Kid rewrote its engine for 3DS, doing so again for Moon Chronicles

With the 3DS celebrating its third birthday in Japan yesterday, Renegade Kid co-founder Jools Watsham shared several tweets about the studio’s history with the portable earlier today.
One of the more notable tidbits of information concerns Renegade Kid’s engine. For some of the company’s earlier games – Face Racers: Photo Finish and ATV Wild Ride 3D – the company rewrote the tech. Renegade Kid is now doing the same thing for Moon Chronicles to ensure that it runs at 60 FPS with 3D enabled.
We had to re-write our "Renegade Engine" (Dementium, Moon, ATV) from scratch to work on the 3DS for Face Racers and ATV 3D.

In other news, Watsham reconfirmed that the 2D version of Mutant Mudds (the game we know of today) was originally planned for Xbox Live. The studio’s “focus quickly shifted to the Nintendo eShop” after the 3DS was announced.
Mutant Mudds was originally developed for Xbox Live. Then the 3DS was announced! Our focus quickly shifted to the Nintendo eShop. đŸ™‚
