Few games in the last few years have excelled at making me feel truly lost in their world. When these types of experiences come about, they can make you forget who you are, your age, status, and more due to the fact that you’re so invested in them your mind completely clears. Yo-kai Watch manages to accomplish this and delivers an unbelievable experience that excels in everything it has to offer, from its graphics, gameplay, story, mechanics, as well as an art form a lot of games don’t bother utilizing anymore: humor.

Youkai Watch

Nintendo just published the North American Yo-kai Watch launch trailer. Give it a look below.

Nintendo showed off three of Yo-kai Watch’s playable characters a few days ago. The final game, which is slated for Friday in North America, will have over 200 in total.

Since Yo-kai Watch is just three days away from debuting overseas, Nintendo is highlighting another pair of character from the 3DS title. First, here’s a look at Shmoopie:

“Awwwww. Shmoopie can overcome you with the power of cuteness. This Yo-kai is cute enough to melt anyone’s heart — and boy does he know it! Shmoopie can be quite the schemer, so look out!”

And Snotsolong:

“Getting the winter season sniffles? It might be because of Snotsolong. Snotsolong gives you a runny nose that never stops. A crane Yo-kai with an insanely runny nose, Snotsolong’s snot is so heavy he can’t even fly! He likes to share his miserable cold with everyone.”

Nintendo World Report has shared 10 minutes of footage from Yo-kai Watch. Take a look at the video below.

Let us introduce you to three of the 200 amazing Yo-kai characters you’ll grow to love once you pick up the game and start to play:

Yo-kai Watch is a week away from its launch in North America. With its release date so close and Halloween taking place on Saturday, Nintendo is doing some extra promotion for the game.

First, here’s an overview of three of the 200 Yo-kai characters in the game:

Jibanyan

Jibanyan is a slacker cat who saps your energy. When he’s not lying around eating chocolate bars, Jibanyan likes to practice his fighting moves on passing trucks — usually with painful results!

Walkappa

Walkappa makes you want to go for a swim — or jump in a lake! Most kappas stay in the water, but this one is a landlubber. He keeps a bottle of water to pour on his head to stay wet, though.

Tattletell

Ever revealed a secret without realizing it? It might be the work of Tattletell, a mischievous Yo-kai who takes the form of an elderly woman.

Nintendo has also passed along a few Halloween posters in spirit of the event. Those are in the gallery below.

VIZ Media has high hopes for Yo-kai Watch. Waell Oueslati, EMEA associate brand manager at Viz Media, recently told MCV that he believes the franchise could be the next Pokemon.

Oueslati said:

“This will be the next big boys’ brand, essentially the next Pokémon. We have very high expectations for the market and for the UK. We are certainly bigger than Pokémon in Japan; we currently have 95 per cent market share in that region.”

In case you’re curious, VIZ Media is in charge of Yo-kai Watch’s comics and TV show in both North America and Europe.
