The World Video Game Hall of Fame in its 2017 edition has inducted four new games that deserve it because of how they affected the video game industry: Donkey Kong, Halo: Combat Evolved, Pokémon Red & Green, and Street Fighter II.

The original Donkey Kong arcade game has been inducted because of how it helped to launch the career of one Shigeru Miyamoto, as well as counting as the first appearance of characters Donkey Kong and Super Mario (who was known as Jumpman).

The Pokemon anime is continuing, but this time on a new network. It was announced today that Disney XD will begin airing Pokemon the Series: Sun & Moon on May 12.

Here’s the official overview:

“The adventures of Ash and friends continue in the Alola region with the debut of Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon on Friday, May 12! Our heroes have many exciting new Pokémon to discover and interesting people to learn from along the way. More new faces will help guide Ash’s latest journeys—but frequent foes Team Rocket have also made the trip to Alola, looking to swipe some high-powered new Pokémon. They’ll have competition from the ruffians of Team Skull, who delight in causing chaos and may have more sinister intentions…”

Fans can watch the first two episodes of Pokemon the Series: Sun & Moon on May 12 at 9 PM. The third will air the next morning at 9 AM, the normal viewing time. Disney XD will also be showing a special presentation of Pokemon the Movie: Volcanion and the Mechanical Marvel on Saturday at 5 PM.

In 2015, The Pokemon Company generated $2.1 billion in retail revenue. That total saw a big rise in 2016, jumping to $3.3 billion. It was a $1.2 billion increase, causing Pokemon to move up ten spots comparatively to 2015 numbers.

Pokemon GO’s launch last year was naturally a catalyst, as were Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon. The series also had its first Super Bowl commercial ever which was no doubt seen by millions of people.

License! Global writes in a new report:

“Pokemon enjoyed an incredibly strong year at retail in 2016, which marked the brand’s 20th anniversary. The milestone, which recognized the first introduction of Pokemon video games 20 years ago, catapulted the perennially popular brand into the global spotlight and kicked off with the first-ever Pokemon Super Bowl commercial. The company also introduced the mobile game “Pokemon Go,” which became a global phenomenon and was downloaded 650 million times. Pokemon followed this success with “Pokemon Sun” and “Poeémon Moon” for the Nintendo 3DS, which became the third best-selling Nintendo 3DS titles of all time, adding to the 280 million Pokemon video games already sold.”

Pokemon developer Game Freak is currently searching for a motion modeler. The company is trying to find someone who has experience making models on the level of Wii U and PlayStation Vita, and experience with the computer program Maya is required.

Game Freak cites the following as bonuses:

– Experience in deciding character model specifications
– Experience in managing progress of character models
– Experience in producing deformed characters
– Experience in producing monster models

The modeler will be asked to work on creating character models for an unspecified consumer game development project. Among other things, they’ll be asked to produce models of characters, monsters and items, and deformed materials with toon rendering. The position with Game Freak is on a contract basis and can lead up until May 2018.

Before Switch was announced, rumors persisted of a third Pokemon entry to accompany Pokemon Sun/Moon on Nintendo’s system. No announcement has been made, but if it exists, perhaps this job listing could be related.

A new Pokemon-related trademark has been filed in Japan. Nintendo, Creatures Inc., and Game Freak nabbed the name “Pokedaringu”.

At the moment, we can’t say for sure if the trademark will actually be used, and what the final name could be overseas. It could be something along the lines of PokeDaring or PokeDulling.

Also worth noting, this isn’t actually confirmed to be a game. It could even be a merchandise line or even just an item in a game.
