The sales tracker also reported today that Nintendo’s new game is the biggest launch of a new IP on the console. Previously, ZombiU held the record.

Rumor: Splatoon selling through over 90% of its initial shipment in Japan
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Wii U | 10 Comments
Splatoon is doing very, very well in Japan. Because of the game’s strong sales, the game has been tough to find on store shelves. Nintendo even issued an apology on its Twitter account last week, and vowed to ship more copies in the coming days.
We’re now hearing that Splatoon managed to sell through over 90 percent of its initial shipment in Japan. That isn’t confirmed just yet, but it wouldn’t be terribly shocking based on reports of how its selling out at various stores. This would also likely mean that Splatoon sold somewhere in the range of 150,000 copies in Japan. We should be receiving official data on Wednesday!

3DS version of Retro City Rampage now the “best-selling-at-full-price port”
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS eShop, News | 0 comments
Vblank Entertainment is very pleased with the performance of Retro City Rampage on 3DS. As confirmed by the game’s official Twitter account, this version of the game is now “the best-selling-at-full-price port.” That’s despite the fact that other platforms had a 15-month head start.
The full Twitter message states:
The other platforms had a 15 month head start, but the 3DS version of Retro City Rampage became the best-selling-at-full-price port.
— Retro City Rampage (@RetroCR) May 26, 2015
Report shows gamers only purchase 20% of their games at full price now. Luckily, 3DS's still healthy w/most copies of RCR sold @ full price.
— Retro City Rampage (@RetroCR) May 26, 2015
Vblank went on to express its satisfaction with the 3DS and support from Nintendo as a whole:
Absolutely love the 3DS eShop and all the great support I've received from the eShop team! #nindies (also, follow @DWBakes!)

Japan sees lowest gaming sales since 2001
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, General Nintendo, News | 17 Comments
Gaming sales in Japan were not very good last week – so much so that they’re the worst sales since 2001.
Based on the latest Media Create data, just 235,000 video games were sold between May 11 and May 17. Along with it being a sixty percent drop compared to the previous week, it’s also a 61.93 percent drop compared to the same week last year.
One part of the problem is that gaming sales tend to slow down following Golden Week. Media Create also points out that there was a total lack of new titles. Instead, a bunch of remastered and reworked games were released.
Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition is selling a bit slowly as well. Sales are up to 232,683 copies, but it has only sold through 59.19 percent of its initial shipment.

Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. off to a very slow start in Japan
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 18 Comments
Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. debuted in Japan last week. Sadly, it’s almost an understatement to say that it’s off to a very slow start.
As Media Create didn’t include Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. in its latest charts, it was an indication that the game sold under 2,000 units. This is something that Famitsu confirms with its own sales figures. According to the site, Code Name: S.T.E.A.M. moved just 1,835 copies in Japan.
