Super Smash Bros. fans have come up with a new mini-game called “Falcon Potato”. It’s done with three players in Special Smash with a higher launch rate and timers-only. Two play as Mario (or Dr. Mario), and another plays as Captain Falcon.

After the match begins, you slow down time with an item, and start a Falcon Punch. The Mario players then use their “Cape” move to redirect the punch until someone gets hit.

Fans have data-mined Super Smash Bros. for Wii U in hopes of finding secret goodies. Based on the latest discoveries, it seems like there were some rather interesting plans for the game.

Source Gaming’s data-mining suggests that the new Smash Bros. could have received a Rhythm Heaven character (Chorus Men) as was originally speculated quite some time ago. There may have also been plans for a Dr. Mario stage.

Here’s the full rundown from Source Gaming:

The Share menu (Sharing Mii Fighters, Snapshots and Video) is present in the Wii U version. The text for it is the same (AFAIK). There are no additional fighter characters. However…

Lastly… C:\SSB4\ui\replace\chr\stock_90 stock_90_Virus_01.nut

This strongly suggests that Dr. Mario was going to receive a stage. Perhaps the three different Viruses had a different effect on the players (Chill could freeze, Weird could give the effect of Lip’s Stick and Fever could give players fire breath). There’s no way to tell as the models and stage have been removed.

Update: Super Smash Bros. Melee will also be at Evo 2015 once again!

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will be included in the lineup for Evo 2015. The news was just announced during a live stream event a few minutes ago.

At last year’s Evo, Super Smash Bros. Melee was on display, and Nintendo ended up sponsoring the event.

Evo 2015 will take place between July 17 and July 19.

I’m not really sure what’s going on here. It’s definitely some sort of bizarre glitch!

Thanks to Alex for the tip.

How about this for a custom stage in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. One fan has gone out of his way to replicate Nintendo of America Reggie Fils-Aime! The results are rather impressive, don’t you think?

Remember: every single character in Super Smash Bros. should be getting its own amiibo, so it shouldn’t come as a major surprise that we’re able to see some roster inclusions that don’t have figures yet. Of course, the only way to get access to amiibo like Game & Watch and Duck Hunt is by manipulating the game.

Super Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai has opened up on the thinking behind the Wii U game’s Smash Tour.

In a column published in Game Informer, Sakurai explained that the mode “is the result of us pressing forward in our original direction – having a lot of changing elements in the field, leading to totally unpredictable situations.”
