The Game Awards 2019

Nintendo has put an announcement recapping some of the Switch-related news shared at The Game Awards 2019. The company highlighted the announcement of Bravely Default II as well as the new trailer for No More Heroes 3 and latest DLC news for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3.

Here’s the full announcement:

The winners are in for The Game Awards 2019. Nintendo itself took home a few awards, including Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as “Best Fighting Game” and Fire Emblem: Three Houses as “Best Strategy Game”.

Here’s the full list:

For the first time this year, The Game Awards kicked off an initiative known as “Player’s Voice”. Over a three-day period this week, fans have been able to vote online on their favorite game of the past year.

Death Stranding, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate made it to the final round. Thanks to fan support, it was Fire Emblem that came out on top.

We’ll be posting the lineup of winners from the known categories later tonight.

To celebrate The Game Awards that are taking place later today, a new sale has started on the Switch eShop. Titles that have been featured in the show’s previous years as well as in 2019 have been discounted by up to 50 percent.

The full lineup is as follows:

Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser will be attending The Game Awards 2019 tomorrow night, show host and creator Geoff Keighley has confirmed. Keighley did not say if Bowser will be presenting an award or if he’ll have any other presence.

In previous years, former Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime was on the advisory board for The Game Awards. While Reggie has retired from the company, Bowser has since assumed the same role.

Keighley said the following when asked if Bowser has been as supportive of The Game Awards as Reggie:

Reggie Fils-Aime may have retired from Nintendo, but he’s still an important figure in the gaming industry. Having said that, it’s been confirmed that the former Nintendo of America president will be appearing at the show later this week.

Specifics regarding Reggie’s appearance haven’t been shared. It looks like he’ll be presenting an award, but perhaps something else could be in store as well. Fortunately, we’re just a few days away from The Game Awards 2019 as the big event will be held on December 12.

Hello my happy helpers and fortune cookies! This week on NEP, Oni Dino and Galen are talking The Game Awards, the industry and mobile monetization schemes. We chat about the nominees, snubs, predictions for Nintendo and past instances—new Smash DLC fighter? Metroid? Bayonetta? Who knows! Let’s keep it logical, though.
Then we tackle Animal Crossing Pocket Camp getting a subscription service with a very opinionated argument over if free-to-play games like these should even be considered games. We finish things off with some Pokemon talk on the new designs, and the Gizmodo situation in our listener mail segment.

If you’re enjoying NEP, please consider giving us a 5 star review on Apple Podcasts, aka new iTunes. It’s incredibly helpful in getting us exposed to new listeners through algorithms, so we would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you for listening!

There are just over three weeks to go until The Game Awards 2019. Plenty of announcements and news will be shared during the big show, but there will also be actual awards to hand out as well. Today, the nominees were revealed across 29 categories.

Here’s the full rundown:

Nintendo has been known to have a heavy presence at The Game Awards. Whether it was showing some of the first Zelda: Breath of the Wild gameplay, announcing Bayonetta 3, or revealing a new Smash Bros. character, the company usually has one – if not more – big things to show.

Last year was arguably the biggest year for Nintendo fans at The Game Awards. Nintendo itself dropped the news about Joker coming to Smash Bros. Ultimate as the first DLC character, and also unveiled Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 – something nobody saw coming. On top of that, we even got some pretty big third-party announcements thanks to the likes of Mortal Kombat 11, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, and Sayonara Wild Hearts.

Now that The Game Awards 2019 is only a month away, we want to know what you’re hoping will be shown this year. What are you looking for Nintendo to debut? Let us know in the comments below.

The Game Awards 2019 will take place on December 12, creator and host Geoff Keighley has announced. The show will be held in Los Angeles at the Microsoft Theater.

Regarding The Game Awards 2019, Keighley had this to say:
