The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild reached a major milestone in Japan this past week. Based on the latest data from Media Create, it has now outsold Twilight Princess.

Media Create has Breath of the Wild selling a total 576,067 units on Switch. You can add another 133,024 copies for the Wii U version. We should also note that Media Create hasn’t provided an update for the Wii U version in quite some time, so the sales there should be even higher.

PowerA has two new specially-designed controllers lined up for Switch. Next month, the new hardware with Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Mario designs will be released.

Both controllers have been officially licensed by Nintendo. They feature six interchangeable analog caps for custom control, soft-touch rubber grips for added comfort, and a 10-foot removable USB cable.

The two controllers should be out on October 23. Amazon has the Zelda one up for pre-order here, and the Mario edition here.

Nintendo has carried out another item distribution for Zelda: Breath of the Wild on Switch. Director Hidemaro Fujibayashi has delivered a new message, along with three Bird Eggs.

You can obtain the eggs by subscribing to Switch’s Zelda: Breath of the Wild news channel. Then when the message appears, launch the game with the included shortcut. A treasure chest will show up immediately as soon as you start Breath of the Wild.

Nintendo came up with a unique art style in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. In a way, it almost looks Wind Waker, but not quite to the same cartoonish extent.

But what would Breath of the Wild look like without its art style, you ask? Thanks to a glitch discovered by Reddit’s Rangers_Of_The_North last month, it’s possible to turn off the shaders.

Just like on 3DS, Capcom is extending the Zelda: Breath of the Wild collaboration to the Switch version of Monster Hunter XX. A trailer released tonight shows the collaboration in all of its HD glory. Check it out below.

Legends of Localization has taken a look at the ending of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in both English and Japanese. The site picked up on a bit of an interesting discrepancy between the two versions. It goes without saying, but some may consider the below explanation spoiler-related.

After Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s first DLC pack arrived, players eventually discovered an interesting glitch. It involved entering the the Trial of the Sword and warping to a Divine Beast that you haven’t finished in order to duplicate items.

With the new update released this week, the glitch has since been patched. So if you’ve downloaded version 1.3.1, it’s impossible to recreate the glitch in the same exact way. We wouldn’t be surprised though if players manage to find another way of duplicating items with a different glitch in the future.

Thanks to Jake for the tip.

After it launched on Switch a few hours ago, Nintendo has sent out the first update to those who are following the new Zelda: Breath of the Wild News channel. Director Hidemaro Fujibayashi will be sharing messages to players.

As for the initial items, they aren’t terribly exciting. Nintendo’s first distributions are only for apples and a piece of meat. Here’s hoping future items are a bit more exciting.
