The 3DS has managed to surpass the N64 in terms of hardware sales. As of September 30, 34,980,000 3DS units have been sold. N64’s total shipments come in at 32,930,000 units.

Fans Can Purchase Super Mario 3D World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Mario Party: Island Tour Early

REDMOND, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Nintendo:

WHAT:Video game launch events don’t get much more exciting than this! On Nov. 21, Nintendo is hosting a combined celebration for three giant games: Super Mario 3D World for Wii U, and The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Mario Party: Island Tour for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. The event will take place at Nintendo World in Rockefeller Plaza in New York.
Fans will not want to miss this event, as they will be able to purchase all three of these huge Wii U and Nintendo 3DS releases (while supplies last) starting at 8 p.m. ET, a day before they launch in stores and in the Nintendo eShop. In addition to early access to the games, chalk artist Chris Carlson will be on site to reveal an epic art piece featuring iconic imagery from The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. Costumed characters from both the Mario and Zelda series will also be enjoying the festivities and taking pictures with fans.
Franchises as big as Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda don’t often launch on the same day. This celebration is sure to be an absolute treat for fans.

Nintendo is offering a series of big discounts in the Nintendo eShop for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Starting today and running into December, select games featuring fan-favorite characters will be available for at least 30 percent off their normal prices. Link from the Zelda series kicks off the first round of limited-time discounts on select games. Wii U and Nintendo 3DS owners can visit the Nintendo eShop each Thursday to see which character’s games are next.

Between 9 a.m. Pacific today and 9 a.m. Pacific on Nov. 21, Wii U and Nintendo 3DS owners with a broadband Internet connection can visit the Nintendo eShop to purchase the following discounted games.

The characters’ thick outlines are only available in the 3DS version. Only the external outline is thickened and won’t appear in instances like when the hands or feet are overlapping. It’s got a softness to it and is not just black.
