Dragon Ball FighterZ

Dragon Ball FighterZ was originally announced at last year’s E3. Almost immediately, fans started to ask why there wasn’t a Switch version, and began requesting a port. Those requests will finally be fulfilled when Dragon Ball FighterZ arrives on Switch later this month.

Ahead of the release, Switch Player caught up with the developers to chat about the game. The interview started out with the team being asked about why the Switch edition didn’t appear at the same time as the PS4 and Xbox One versions:

Nintendo Switch Online

Some rather interesting information began to emerge about Nintendo Switch Online and cloud saves today. Unfortunately, not all titles will support the feature. There will be a few exceptions such as Splatoon 2, Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu / Eevee, and others.

Nintendo has now commented on the situation to clarify how many games will be affected and why such titles are restricted. According to the statement, fans can expect a “vast majority” of Switch releases to support cloud saves. The ones that don’t are like this in order to ensure “fair play”.

Fire Emblem Heroes

Fire Emblem Heroes has updated with its latest story content. Check out some footage of the latest maps below.

A year after it was originally teased, Umihara Kawase Fresh! was announced for Switch this week. Success has been sharing a few tidbits on Twitter.

Studio Saizensen will still be leading the way on development and Toshinobu Kondo is back as character designer. Also, the “rubber engine” from the previous titles will still be used in order to maintain the fundamental feel.

In past entries, Umihara Kawase games had a traditional stage structure. But for Umihara Kawase Fresh!, there will be an interconnected Metroidvania-style map with a quest system. Less skilled players will be able to take the prescribed routes while hardcore players can take shortcuts and speedrun.

Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion

Update 2: Same notices are also on the game pages for NBA 2K19, FIFA 19, Dead Cells, and Dark Souls: Remastered.

Update: The game pages for Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu / Eevee also have the same notice. Both may not support cloud saves as well.

Original: Nintendo Switch Online launches on Switch towards the end of this month. When it does, subscribers will be able to take advantage of new cloud saves, though not every game will be eligible for the feature. Splatoon 2 may fall into that category.

On Nintendo’s North American website, the Splatoon 2: Starter Pack page states: “This game does not support Save Data Cloud backup.” Unless this is an error or a misunderstanding, cloud saves won’t be supported here. We’ll know for sure once the service officially starts this month.
