Reggie says video apps for Switch “will come in time”

Right now, Switch doesn’t offer any video apps. The likes of Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon currently aren’t offered on the system. However, it’s only a matter of time before that changes.
In an interview with The Washington Post, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime stated that the company is talking with the aforementioned video providers about supporting Switch. Their apps “will come in time,” according to Reggie.
He said:
“What I would say is this: We built the Nintendo Switch to be a world-class gaming device, meaning we want you first and foremost to play games on the system and have an incredibly fun experience.
We’re talking to a range of companies about other services, companies like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon — things that will come in time. In our view, these are not differentiators. What differentiates us is the way you play with the Nintendo Switch and what you can play. And that will continue to be our focus into the future as we continue driving this platform.”

Splatoon 2 shows off its Spawn Point

A new screenshot from Splatoon 2 hit the series’ Japanese Twitter page today. It provides a new look at the Spawn Point.
While the Spawn Point looks new, it naturally works just like it did in the first game. The Twitter message also points out how it seems as though it was made by a foreign company, and says even the world of Splatoon appears to be seeing globalization.

Neo Geo games on Switch will be updated next week to address brightness and audio issues

The first wave of Neo Geo Switch games from Hamster’s Arcade Archives series debuted in Europe and Japan last week. Unfortunately though, many players quickly became aware of issues pertaining to brightness and audio.
Hamster has heard the complaints and is already looking to address the situation. Next week, the games should be updated to correct the reported problems.
Also worth noting, NAM-1975 is coming to the Japanese Switch eShop tomorrow. It will cost 823 yen.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild Switch vs. Wii U frame rate stress tests

Digital Foundry put up another video analyzing Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s performance on Switch and Wii U today. For this new one, the team was stress-testing the GPU. The analysis shows that the game does have frame rate dips on Switch here and there, but they appear to be less frequent and not as severe when compared to Wii U.

Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap coming to Switch on April 18

You won’t have to wait much longer to play Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap. Today, DotEmu announced that the game is set to launch on April 18 via the eShop (and other platforms). A “last surprise” will be revealed on March 18.
For those who haven’t heard of Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap previously, here’s a brief overview:
“Boasting beautiful, hand-drawn animations and a re-orchestrated soundtrack, the cult classic returns with a unique blend of exploration, action, and adventure. Play as Lizard-Man, Mouse-Man, Piranha-Man, Lion-Man, and Hawk-Man, and use their unique abilities to uncover the land’s deepest secrets. Fire Emblem Heroes details its upcoming Inherit Skill feature

Nintendo made it known that Fire Emblem Heroes is adding the new Inherit Skill feature on March 16. Additional details have since been published on the official Japanese Twitter account.
It shares the following:
– You can inherit up to three skills from one hero
– The inherited skills will start off as mastered (on the new owner)
– To learn the inherited skills, you’ll need 1.5 times more SP than usual
The Twitter account goes on to say that exclusive hero skills like Falchion cannot be inherited. Finally, some skills may not be transferable depending on the inheritor hero’s weapon type and movement type.
Wii U / 3DS Image Share maintenance taking place next week

Nintendo has new maintenance scheduled for next week, but it will only be impacting a specific feature for two of its platforms. On Monday / Tuesday, Wii U / 3DS Image Share will be down for a couple of hours of maintenance.
The schedule is as follows:
– 7 PM PT (March 13) – 9 PM PT (March 13)
– 10 PM ET (March 13) – 12 AM ET (March 14)
– 3 AM in the UK (March 14) – 5 AM in the UK (March 14)
– 4 AM in Europe (March 14) – 6 AM in Europe (March 14)

Miitomo has been updated with new content. Players can nab the latest items in the Miitomo Drop stage, “A second impurression! Cat Style Redux #2”.
Available items include:
– Cat-ear newsboy cap
– Cat-lover tee
– Cat silhouette dress
– Cat tail (stripes)
Users can select Miitomo Drop stages from the Shop tab. Miitomo coins or game tickets are needed to play.
