Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive, has once again weighed in on NX. When asked about Nintendo’s upcoming hardware, Zelnick shared the following:

“We’re believers. We never want to count Nintendo out. They do it over and over and over again. So we feel pretty enthusiastic actually.”

Zelnick also commented on Nintendo’s position n the console race. On that topic, he had this to say:

“It’s not a slump, it’s intentional. They come to market, they do really well, and then they sort of exit the market for a period of time. They’ve been doing it for like 150 years, and that company has been doing the same thing… They’re really thoughtful, they come to market with something they really think is going to work, more often than not it really works, it blows up and then eventually they let it decline and they move on to the next thing. They don’t mind having time in between.”

We heard similar comments from Zelnick last month, as he said Take-Two is “very interested” in NX.

The first Pokemon Sun/Moon plushies we heard about earlier in the month are now up for pre-order on Play-Asia. You can now reserve each one from the retailer: Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio. Each one costs $15 and will receive limited availability.

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance originally came to 3DS in 2012. Even though it’s been four years since then, fans have stumbled upon a potentially interesting discovery.

OmegaErkz streamed a variety of areas from Kingdom Hearts 3D on YouTube yesterday – see below. At the 2:53:20 minute mark, there’s an unused location made up of 11 rooms (maps, areas) that seems to be based on Treasure Planet.

Although some may assume that it could be a demo version of the Captain Hook ship from past Kingdom Hearts titles, this looks quite different. It also doesn’t quite match up entirely with the ship from the movie. If that wasn’t enough, code from this group of assets has the title “tp”. Maps from other Kingdom Hearts releases has area codes such as “tt” for Twilight Town or “pl” for Pride Lands. Also remember that Square Enix has left over unused content in the past.

Here’s the full stream recording from OmegaErkz:

Update (7/25): Now $17.14 off on Amazon. $20.65 off on Amazon Canada.

Original (7/22): Prima has generally been associated with game guides, but they’re now preparing something that’s a bit different. On November 18, Playing With Power: Nintendo NES Classics will be available.

Playing With Power: Nintendo NES Classics offers a retrospective on 17 NES classics, including Super Mario Bros. 3, Donkey Kong, and The Legend of Zelda. It also includes interviews as well as commentary “from Nintendo visionaries who pioneered this era of gaming”. And if that wasn’t enough, Prima is packing in hand-drawn maps, character and game environment art, advertisements and excerpts from Nintendo Power’s old issues, and more. It’s all brought together with an “exclusive embossed slipcase” that “holds this hardcover tome in a clever package that resembles a classic NES Game Pak”.

Playing With Power: Nintendo NES Classics is actually already available for pre-order. Get it on Amazon US, Amazon Canada, or Amazon UK.

Two versions of Super Turrican exist. The now-defunct Factor 5 hoped to have the game on a 6Mbit cartridge way back in the day, but the game’s publisher only allowed for 4Mbit. According to Julian Eggebrecht from Factor 5, that meant the whole final level was removed, including an extra boss.

During the Wii days, Factor 5 actually wanted to restore the original version on the Virtual Console. The 6Mbit cartridge version would have been released as a bonus for those who purchased Super Turrican and Mega Turrican back in 2008. Unfortunately, Nintendo had a policy in which anything that wasn’t commercially available previously couldn’t be published. That meant the dream of having the true version of Super Turrican never materialized.
