Nintendo bringing Yo-kai Watch 2 to North America on September 30
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 33 Comments
Nintendo will release Yo-kai Watch 2 in North America on September 30, the company announced today.
As in Japan, the game will be available in two versions. Consumers will be able to purchase Yo-kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits and Yo-kai Watch 2: Fleshy Souls.
Here’s an overview from Nintendo:
All things Yo-kai continue on Sept. 30 when YO-KAI WATCH 2 launches in the U.S. exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. Already a huge hit in Japan, the sequel to the first smash hit, which is once again developed by LEVEL-5, offers the same deep RPG gameplay and wacky adventures as the first game. The new adventure also offers many new areas to explore outside of Springdale, more than 100 new Yo-kai, a new-and-improved in-game Yo-kai Watch and even the ability to travel back in time! YO-KAI WATCH 2 will also launch with two versions, YO-KAI WATCH 2: Bony Spirits and YO-KAI WATCH 2: Fleshy Souls, each featuring rare Yo-kai that can only be found in their respective games.
Also planned are new toys this fall, including the Yo-kai Watch Model Zero, a new series of collectible Yo-Motion Yo-kai Medals, plus custom Yo-kai Watch accessories, large plush toys and electronic figures. We’ll also be seeing the Yo-kai Watch Trading Card Game and the second series of the show on Disney XD. More details can be found after the break.

Kimishima comments on Nintendo movies, mobile, NX
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, Mobile, News, Switch | 107 Comments
A few hours ago, we posted some tidbits from a new Asahi interview with Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima about the company’s movie plans. The outlet’s complete interview has now been translated in full.
We have Kimishima’s complete comments on movies, plus remarks about mobile and NX. Continue on below for the translation, courtesy of GSR.
-You’re currently working to invest your IP in new fields. In April Nintendo sold its stake in the Seattle Mariners; are you putting the income from that to use?
We aren’t looking to make money simply by directly licensing our characters, but we must invest heavily in new areas such as film production going forward. When we’ve finalized that sale, we’d like to use part of the proceeds in these areas.
-By film production, you mean movies?
The most common meaning is films, but there’s a variety of opportunities such as video content. We’re currently talking with a number of partners, and I think we’ll be able to finalize something in the not-too-distant future.

In recent times, Nintendo has spoken about the potential of the company entering the movie business. This is something that president Tatsumi Kimishima discussed more concretely while speaking with Asahi.
The site reports that Nintendo is getting into the movie business, with Kimishima hinting that the company is looking at a production system where “we can do as much as we can ourselves.” Kimishima added that Nintendo would like to have it’s first movie ready within the next 2-3 years. Various franchises are up for consideration.
As far as specifics go, nothing was shared in particular with Asahi.

Yacht Club Games still open to Nintendo cameo in Shovel Knight
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News, Wii U | 13 Comments
PlayStation and Xbox platforms have console-specific cameos in Shovel Knight in the form of Kratos and Battletoads respectively. There is exclusive content on Wii U and 3DS in the form of amiibo support, but there aren’t any Nintendo characters in the game.
Here’s what Yacht Club Games told Destructoid regarding the possibility of a Nintendo cameo:
“I wouldn’t say it [the door] is 100% closed, but I’d be surprised if it happened. That said, I would have said the same for the amiibo a year ago…”
It’d be very neat to see a Nintendo character in Shovel Knight. That being said, it’d have to be one that the Big N signs off on.
