A whole bunch of developers spoke with Famitsu this week about their aspirations for 2016. Aside from what we posted regarding Etrian Odyssey V from Atlus’ Shigeo Komori, here are some of the other Nintendo-related comments we’ve come across:

Masahiro Sakurai: I want to enjoy every Sunday. But it’s not like the next job hasn’t been decided yet.

Rune Factory and Story of Season’s Yoshifumi Hashimoto: I haven’t announced new titles yet, but some are already on the move.

Level-5’s Akihiro Hino: In 2016, other than expansion of Yokai Watch’s world, we’ll also announce titles with brand-new world settings.

This week’s Famitsu review scores are as follows:

Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir (PS4/PS3/PSV) – 9/9/9/9
Cardfight!! Vanguard G Stride To Victory!! (3DS) – 8/8/8/8
Dariusburst: Chronicle Saviours (PS4/PSV) – 8/8/8/8
Master Reboot (Wii U) – 7/7/6/7
Dai Kaitaku Jidai Machi o Tsukurou (3DS) – 6/7/7/7
Ocean Runner (3DS) – 7/6/7/6

Etrian Odyssey V was announced way back in November 2014. Aside from a teaser trailer, Atlus shared relatively little about the project.

Atlus’ Shigeo Komori finally provided an update (although brief) about Etrian Odyssey V in this week’s Famitsu. He said that development is in the final stages, and information will come “a bit later after the cold weather has warmed”. In other words, expect to hear news around spring or so.

We actually don’t even have a platform for Etrian Odyssey V. But given the series’ history, it’ll likely be on a Nintendo platform.

Nintendo and McDonald’s have worked together many times before when it comes to Happy Meal toys. Various regions have seen offerings involving Mario, and that trend is continuing once again.

The latest set of Mario toys will be available at McDonald’s locations across Japan starting on January 8. Two different Mario toys, Luigi, Bowser, and more will be distributed. You can see everything that will be available in the image above.

It’s time to announce the winner of our December 2015 Patreon giveaway! Each person pledging $5 or more was automatically eligible for the prize, which was Super Smash Bros. for 3DS. I can now announce that the winner is Brian Brackney. Congratulations!

As for January, we’ll be giving away a Shovel Knight amiibo. Each person pledging $5 or more – regardless of region – will be entered automatically.

To close out, I wanted to bring up something else quickly. I’m curious if there’s anyone who would be interested in having ads removed as a Patreon reward. This wouldn’t be something like $1, but it wouldn’t be something crazy such as $20 either. Now that we have a user account system, this might be doable. We’d make it so that so long as you’re logged in, you wouldn’t see any ads on the site – the code for ads wouldn’t even load in your browser. If there’s enough interest, we might pursue something like this. Otherwise we’ll leave the Patreon rewards as they are!

That’s all for now. See you next month!
