Posted on 10 years ago by (@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 5 Comments

Some of the folks who hacked Mario Kart Wii are now focusing their attention on Mario Kart 8. While their efforts are in the very early stages, the video above shows the ability to rename courses, changes pertaining to music, and more.

The hackers note in their YouTube video, “None of this is in any state to be released at present, and it’s unlikely that we ever will in the interest of preventing cheaters”.

Chibi-Robo! Photo Finder not censored in Europe

For the North American version of Chibi-Robo! Photo Finder, Nintendo made a small censorship change. This version of the game removes the “butt” from a cartoon can. As shown above though, it’s been kept in tact for the European release.

Vblank Entertainment shared a sales update on Retro City Rampage’s WiiWare version yesterday while also asking fans for their support.

Unlike the eShop, Nintendo implemented much stricter rules on the Wii Shop Channel. These harsh guidelines extend to payments for developers. According to Vblank, Retro City Rampage is still 750 units away in North America (850 units in Europe) from reaching the threshold needed for the studio to receive revenue from the WiiWare version. WiiWare titles need to hit a certain number of sales in their first two years before developers are compensated, and at this rate, Vblank believes this will be tough to accomplish with Retro City Rampage.

Mighty No. 9 was one of Kickstarter’s most successful campaigns having raised nearly $4 million. However, Comcept announced last night that the company is opening a second funding campaign. This will be handled through PayPal.

Funds raised through Kickstarter last year will be used to complete development on the entire game. But with this new crowdfunding opportunity, the team is “looking to add new content to the game that we did not or could not add to the stretch goals during the original funding campaign”.

The first goal, set at $100,000, will add full English voice acting.

You can find more information in an official FAQ here.

An animated series based on the upcoming game Mighty. No 9 is on the way, Keiji Inafune announced at Anime Expo 2014 today. It is scheduled to debut in Q2 2016.

Inafune debuted a trailer for the show, and you can find a few off-screen images from the video above. He was quick to note that all Kickstarter funds are only going towards the game, and not the animated series.

Digital Frontier is handling the Mighty No. 9 series. The company has previously been involved with the Yakuza and Tekken games, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Vanquish, and more. Digital Frontier also worked on films like Resident Evil: Damnation.
