Along with today’s screenshot, Sakurai passed along the following message on Miiverse:

This dog is huge… Wait, no, the playable characters are small. The Smash Bros. series doesn’t always stay true to scale.

On Twitter, the official Level-5 International America account wrote:

Perhaps with enough interest, we’ll eventually see Youkai Watch – the game, anime, or both – overseas.

Dragon Quest Monsters 2 sold 443,656 copies in its first week on the Japanese market. Media Create says this resulted in a 78.65% sell-through rate.

Despite Dragon Quest Monsters 2’s initial success, it hasn’t quite reached the same heights as the first Dragon Quest Monsters 3DS remake. When Square Enix released the previous DQM title for Nintendo’s portable, it sold 513,183 copies in its first week for a 93.96% sell-through.

Of course, we should maintain some perspective here. At the end of the day, there’s no denying that Dragon Quest Monsters 2 has gotten off to a fast start and Square Enix is likely pleased with its performance.

The Year of Luigi is finally coming to an end next month. Shigeru Miyamoto posted a message on Miiverse earlier today and confirmed that the festivities will conclude on March 18.

With the year-long event’s end, Nintendo is closing off the Year of Luigi Miiverse Community and its Developers’ Room to new post and comments. Miyamoto is asking fans to leave a few words for Luigi on his post as a means of bringing closure.

You can find Miyamoto’s message in full below.

There’s been a lot of talk about Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark on consoles since the game was revealed at this year’s Toy Fair over the weekend. But what about the 3DS version?

Although we don’t have a ton of information, GamerFitNation reports that the handheld title will be strategy RPG, as opposed to Edge of Reality’s action-oriented title on consoles. WayForward has also been officially confirmed as the 3DS version’s developer.

Forbidden Magna producer Yoshifumi Hashimoto left a message for fans on the game’s new website.

According to Hashimoto, the game came about after development on Rune Factory 4 was completed. He and other people around him shared a desire to create something new. “And that’s how the new challenge of Forbidden Magna came to be,” he said.

You can find Hashimoto’s full message below.

Hey everyone, how was your Valentine’s Day? Maybe you spent the day with your loved ones; maybe you spent it devouring chocolate. Personally I spent the day slaving over a Word document, trying my hardest to convey my true feelings on a truly bizarre romance. No, I wasn’t writing some kind of love letter – I was musing on Konami’s hella heteronormative “girlfriend simulator”, LovePlus. Games tend to stay away from handling romantic relationships, especially when compared to other mediums, so I was curious to see if this Nintendo DS title was really as original (and weird) as I’d heard. So can love truly blossom between a grown man and a DS cartridge?

The answer to that question is no. Absolutely not. But as someone who is fascinated in the potential of games to blend narrative and gameplay in developing fictional relationships, LovePlus is an incredibly interesting, albeit flawed take on interactive romance.
