Final Fantasy Explorers made it out today in North America, and it’s due out in Europe at the end of the week. You can purchase the game either physically or digitally. If opting for the latter, you’ll need to reserve 5,021 of free blocks on an SD card. That amounts to roughly 627.6MB.

In Fire Emblem Fates’ original Japanese release, the game allowed players to stroke characters on the 3DS’ lower screen. For the west, Nintendo has decided to remove this element.

Kotaku confirmed with the company that petting has been completely removed. In a statement, one representative from Nintendo explained while also defending the original intent of the Japanese version:

“Yes, that is the case [that petting isn’t in the English version]. You might have heard somewhat misinterpreted or exaggerated information about the Japanese original game, but even in the Japanese original version, we have not included any features which are considered inappropriate in Japan.”

Project X Zone 2 videos

A whole bunch of Fire Emblem Fates gameplay videos are now being posted from Nintendo’s RPG press event last week. We’re rounding up all the ones we come across below.

Nintendo has added more maintenance to its schedule for today. In addition to Minecraft: Wii U Edition, the 3DS itself will be down for around two hours later today. This will affect certain network services such as online play and rankings.

Here’s when the maintenance is taking place:

– 5:50 PM PT – 7:30 PM PT
– 8:50 PM ET – 10:30 PM ET
– 1:50 AM in the UK – 3:30 AM in the UK
– 2:50 AM in Europe – 4:30 AM in Europe
