A new month rolled right on yesterday. Now that we’re in January (and a new year!), we want to know what you’ve been playing.

[Let’s Talk] Your 2020 game of the year

Another year is almost in the books. 2020 will be finished in just a few days, which given how things have been over the past several months, that’s probably a good thing.
As far as gaming goes, plenty of titles came out this year. Nintendo itself published Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics, Paper Mario: The Origami King, Super Mario 3D All-Stars, Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, Pikmin 3 Deluxe, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, and Fitness Boxing 2 (with a smattering of smaller things like Kirby Fighters 2). From third-parties, some of the highlights were Hades, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Trials of Mana, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin, Immortals Fenyx Rising, and Doom Eternal.

[Let’s Talk] Your highlight from the December 2020 Indie World Showcase

Just like in 2019, Nintendo decided to close out 2020 with an Indie World Showcase. Nearly twenty games were shown, and a few were announced and released on the same day. Among Us, Grindstone, When the Past Was Around, and Calico all dropped on the eShop. We also heard about titles like Spelunky 1 and 2, Gnosia, and Alba: A Wildlife Adventure. [Let’s Talk] The Game Awards 2020 reaction

The Game Awards 2020 is officially in the books. This year’s show aired on Thursday, featuring the latest game reveals, announcements, and of course, actual awards.
Each year we’re always curious what Nintendo will bring to the table as you can never really guess. This time around, the Big N only really had one announcement: that being Sephiroth coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Capcom actually had quite a bit of Switch news to share between Ghosts ‘N Goblins Resurrected, Capcom Arcade Stadium, and Monster Hunter Rise (which got a new trailer and upcoming demo). There were a few other Switch announcements with Sea of Solitude: The Director’s Cut, Shady Part of Me, Endless Dungeon, and Evil Dead: The Game.

[Let’s Talk] Nintendo at The Game Awards 2020 – hopes and dreams

The Game Awards tend to be a bit different than the typical awards show. Rather than just focusing on the awards themselves, the event is also known for offering up a look at what’s to come in the future. We get to see new looks at games, new trailers, and new announcements.
Nintendo does have an extensive history at The Game Awards. They were right there at the beginning in 2014 by having Shigeru Miyamoto and Eiji Aonuma demonstrate Zelda: Breath of the Wild with off-screen footage, and that’s continued in later years. We’ve seen the announcements of Bayonetta 3 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, Joker in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and more.
You can probably expect Nintendo to show up in one form or another at The Game Awards 2020. The big question, of course, is what the company will actually be presenting? Could we get a new look at Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2? Will Bayonetta 3 resurface? Perhaps something brand new will be announced. [Let’s Talk] Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity impressions

What should be Nintendo’s big game for the holiday arrived yesterday. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is now available worldwide.
Although the game has only been out for about a day or so, it’s likely that many Switch owners have made a purchase and have played through a fair amount so far. It also helps that a demo was released a couple of weeks ago which contains a good chunk to experience.
Based on what you’ve played so far – be it the main game or demo – what are your thoughts as of now? Who’s your favorite character to play as? Let us know in the comments below.
[Let’s Talk] What’s next for 3D Mario

Nintendo came out of the gates swinging for Switch’s launch year in 2017. A big part of that was due to a couple of heavy hitters that dropped within just a few months of each other. Not only did Switch have a new 3D Zelda game at launch in Breath of the Wild, but it also received a new 3D Mario thanks to Super Mario Odyssey.
We already know what’s next for Zelda. At least year’s E3, Nintendo announced Breath of the Wild 2, and there’s a good chance of it coming in 2021. Mario, however, is more of a mystery. There’s been plenty of love for 3D Mario on Switch with Super Mario 3D All-Stars and the upcoming Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury. However, the next true step is an unknown quantity.
Could we end up seeing Super Mario Odyssey 2? Or perhaps another sequel like Super Mario Galaxy 3? Nintendo could also be pursuing something entirely brand new. Let us know what you think could be next for 3D Mario and what you’d personally like to see in the comments below.

[Let’s Talk] Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase – October 2020 reactions

There are only a couple of months remaining in 2020, but Nintendo still had one final Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase in store for the year. Another presentation aired on Wednesday.
The Nintendo Direct Mini had a few announcements, surprise releases, and more. In terms of what’s entirely new, No More Heroes 1 and 2 were finally announced – and immediately released – for Switch. Speaking of surprise launches, Part Time UFO dropped on the Switch eShop, as did Control Ultimate Edition – Cloud Version. Other new announcements included Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town, Hitman 3 – Cloud Version, Griftlands: Nintendo Switch Edition, and Surviving the Aftermath. There were a few game updates as well, including first proper gameplay of No More Heroes III, a final release date for Bravely Default II, and a new look at Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity – complete with a demo.
