In an interview with The Guardian, a couple of top developers at Nintendo reflected on how their past experiences impacted entries in the Mario series.

Yoshiaki Koizumi, who has directed 3D Mario games starting with Super Mario 64, says Super Mario Sunshine was influenced by his childhood. Kirby Manga Mania

Update (11/14): Pre-orders are now open. Amazon US has Kirby Manga Mania here and Amazon Canada has it here.

Original (10/16): Kirby Manga Mania is coming west, Viz Media has announced. A release is set for Summer 2021.

We don’t have too many details currently, but this appears to an English version of Kirby of the Stars: The Story of Dedede Who Lives in Pupupu. 25 volumes of the manga were originally produced for CoroCoro Comic. The series ran between 1995 and 2006.

Interestingly, Viz Media had originally announced plans to localize Kirby of the Stars: The Story of Dedede Who Lives in Pupupu over a decade ago. However, that never ended up happening. It’s unclear why the English version came to be and what’s changed since then, but it looks like the manga series will finally be appearing in North America.

About a year ago, Physicality Games entered the arena as one of the many companies out there offering physical versions for select Switch titles. The lineup included Guilty Gear 20th Anniversary Pack, Slayaway Camp, Whispering Willows, and Rolling Gunner. Unfortunately, due to a lack of interest, all of these releases have been canceled.

Physicality Games wrote in a statement that “after eight months of sustained effort we failed to achieve sufficient pre-orders for any of our exclusive pre-order titles.” The company has “therefore decided to cancel our exclusive pre-order titles and will begin processing full refunds to our customers per our guarantee.” It also sounds like there are no future plans for any new exclusive pre-order titles.
