Shota Kageyama, a composer who worked on Pokemon X/Y, Pokemon Black/White, and Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver, has left Game Freak. Kageyama also contributed to Luminous Arc and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
Kageyama shared the news on Twitter last week in which he wrote:
[Greetings] Happy New Year, everyone. I’m sorry to raise a personal matter, but I left GAME FREAK, who has been good to me these past six years and seven months, on December 31 to start a new music brand called Spica Musica.
Along with gaming, Kageyama will be pursuing other areas of interest. Kageyama said that the staff at Game Freak sent him off with smiles and support, and he’s open to working with the studio again in the future.

Keiji Inafune planning 2014 as “The Year of the Attack”
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 2 Comments
In 2014, Keiji Inafune of Comcept would like to have “The Year of the Attack”.
Inafune, speaking to 4Gamer, said that for titles like Mighty No. 9, the studio wants to be able to move content on its own. Comcept will of course welcome partners and publishers and work hard alongside them, given the opportunity.
Additionally, Comcept really wants to focus and increase the range on its own content. Along with gaming areas, they want to see how far the extent of their content can go.
In all of that, Inafune believes that 2014 will be a very fun year.

Microsoft Studios’ Phil Spencer praises Nintendo
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 0 comments
Microsoft’s Phil Spencer sounded off positively about Nintendo while speaking with OXM.
Spencer was asked by the magazine what he’s learned from the Big N as well as Sony in its latest issue. Regarding Nintendo, the Microsoft Studios corporate vice-president praised Nintendo’s development teams and strong stable of franchises.
He said:
“Nintendo, I think – and there’s some argument about this – that their first-party is such an amazing asset. Their first party studios and IP can lead what they do as a company and the platforms are almost in service to the IP – not in a bad way.
“They have such iconic stories and this will seem somewhat random, but when we go back and do something like Killer Instinct, a little bit of the history of your franchise can actually be important part of people feeling connected. Obviously the history of Killer Instinct isn’t a history on Xbox, but it’s Rare’s history and I think the reaction when we announced it on-stage at E3 showed that playing to the people’s heart, I think Nintendo does that as well as anybody in terms of hitting the franchises and having huge success with them.”

Renegade Kid doesn’t have immediate plans to include multiplayer with its FPS games
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 0 comments
Renegade Kid has made a few first-person shooters in the past, and will be working with the genre once again in Cult County as well as another yet-to-be-announced 3DS project. However, these games don’t include multiplayer, which is a bit atypical for such releases.
Renegade Kid co-founder Jools Watsham isn’t ruling out local/online multiplayer in the future, at least. Watsham told Nintendo Enthusiast, “If our FPS efforts on the 3DS sell well, we’ll be in a better position to support multiplayer features in the future.”
He said:
We do not have any immediate plans for multiplayer with our FPS development. But that isn’t to say that we won’t consider it for the future. Supporting local and/or online multiplayer is a complex task that not only takes considerable time to implement, but also requires a substantial amount of testing to ensure it functions as expected. If our FPS efforts on the 3DS sell well, we’ll be in a better position to support multiplayer features in the future.

Takai said:
“To start the new year, we’ll be announcing a lot of Senran Kagura news come January 8th, at the Senran Kagura Bakunyuu Hyper Presentation. We’ve kept you waiting a little longer for its release this time compared to the previous time, but I believe we’ll be able to reveal a great deal more [at the event]. In addition, we also have another title we’ll be releasing in 2014.”
“This title will be a new and challenging one, but things are going smoothly for now, so please look forward to it!. Please continue supporting the Senran Kagura series and Marvelous AQL this year as well!”

Genius Sonority teases 2014 plans
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 0 comments
Genius Sonority, makers of The Denpa Men, has teased plans for the coming year.
When asked by Japanese publication 4Gamer about 2014, president Manabu Yamana said that the studio hopes to launch “some software” that is “likely to be quite challenging in its content.”
Yamana’s comments in full:
We are hoping to release some software in 2014. I can’t say a title yet, but it is likely to be quite challenging in its content. Thank you for your time.
Genius Sonority has found a home on the 3DS eShop thanks to three Denpa Men games. Yamana told us in a recent interview that a fourth entry would be possible, but if there were to be one, he “would like to change the game style thoroughly”.
