Earlier this week, concept art emerged from what looked to be cancelled Zelda and Mario spin-offs from Retro Studios. Sammy Hall, a former artist at the company, shared the shots online via his ArtStation account. The Zelda game would have featured Sheik while the Mario one was focused around Boo.

We know that the Switch has surpassed lifetime hardware sales of both the GameCube and N64. But how about when you put those two older systems together? As it turns out, Switch still comes out on top.

Switch hardware sales currently sit at 55.77 million units. GameCube sold 21.74 million units while N64 moved 32.93 million. Put those two consoles together and you get 54.67 million, which Switch did indeed surpass and is on track to continue its strong pace.

Switch should soon surpass the NES/Famicom, which sold 61.91 million units in its lifetime.

The coronavirus has affected all kinds of industries and businesses. That includes Nintendo, as the company has struggled to maintain Switch supply and has had to face a work-at-home environment. A status update was provided in its financial results update today.

As for getting product into the marketplace, Nintendo says that “delays in production and shipping are gradually recovering.” There’s more of a concern regarding development since, if the effects of the coronavirus “are prolonged or worsen further, development schedules may be impacted due to the difference in development environments between working from home and in the office.” It’s noted that the situation in Japan “is anticipated to be even more difficult to predict” and there’s an overall warning that “we may not be able to proceed with the release of Nintendo products and the start of services as planned.”
