General Nintendo

CPSIA (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act) registration forms have been filed by Nintendo of America for a number of hard to find amiibo figures. Among those included are the Splatoon 3-Pack, Little Mac, Villager, Ike and Marth. Historically, amiibo figure restocks occur around one or two months after their CPSIA registration.

Hopefully this shows Nintendo’s commitment to making all amiibo figures more easily available to consumers, and will make the amiibo hunt a little less strenuous for collectors.

Miiverse

Nintendo applied a new update to Miiverse yesterday that affects all versions of the social network.

On Wii U and 3DS, it’s now possible to post screenshots saved to the Screenshot Album in Drawings. Users could only previously share images to the Play Journal.

For all versions of Miiverse, Nintendo has added in an option to filter Open Discussions in the New Discussions area.

Here’s the update news from Miiverse’s “Tom”:

The latest episode of Nintendo’s Japanese show Nyannyan Neko Mario Time has now gone live. We’ve included it below.

The amiibo board over on Reddit has received word that GameStop will not be taking pre-orders for a number of figures launching on September 11 in the United States. Supposedly, there are no plans to take reservations for Ganondorf, Zero Suit Samus, Olimar, and 8-Bit Classic Mario. This information comes from a memo distributed “to certain tiers of GameStop management.”

While there won’t be any pre-orders, we’re hearing that a limited amount of each figures will be offered through GameStop’s website. Also, allocation sent to each store will depend on previous amiibo sales.

Here’s what the stock numbers look like for one store (will vary by each location):

Ganondorf ~10
Zero Suit Samus 116904 ~13
Olimar ~12
8-Bit Classic Mario ~10

SonicStadium.org has found evidence that Sonic Classic Collection for DS was originally planned to include more games and content, as well as concept art for a Crazy Taxi 4 Pitch.

The info comes via former SEGA Studios Australia employee Brooke Luder’s portfolio, specifically an image that includes logos for Sonic SpinballSonic 3D Blast, and Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine, all of which were never included in the retail game. Luder’s resume also indicates that video content was planned at one point. Check out the gallery below for more images.

Perhaps even more intriguing is concept art for a Crazy Taxi 4 pitch. No information is given on the proposed game, but the single image shows a cab driver jumping from one cab to another.

Back in July 2013, Toyo Keizai Online conducted an interview with Satoru Iwata. But there was one part of the discussion that was never published.

At one point of the interview, Toyo Keizai Online asked Iwata about the game he likes the most. These comments have now finally made their way online for all to see.

Here’s what Iwata shared at the time:

“Ummm… that’s a difficult question. I was a game developer myself, so I have special attachment to all the products that I was deeply involved in as a programmer or a producer, whether it’s “Kirby Super Star (known in Japan as Hoshino no Kirby)”, “Earthbound (MOTHER 2)”, or “Super Smash Bros. (Dairanto Smash Brothers)”. So it’s pretty hard to name only one.”

“I look at all these games that I produced at very close range, as if they were my children, so to say. The proximity of my perception therefore differs from other people. When I was developing them, I was working almost every day (all night long) till I saw the sun rising over Mt. Fuji. So when I think about them, the memories of those creative endeavors come flashing back altogether as one set?about how I came up with the original concept, what I was thinking at the time to shape it into a tangible form, what portion of these thoughts actually reached the customers and what didn’t, and what kind of struggles and dramatic events I went through during the development process?you know, things like that. These emotions clearly separate my way pf perceiving them from any other person who can get fascinated in these games strictly as one of many ordinary players.”

The latest episode of Nintendo Minute has now gone live. This week, Kit and Krysta are looking to give out swag they’ve collected from events over the past few months. Check out the full video below.
