The Pokemon Company has confirmed that Pokémon the Movie: Hoopa and the Clash of Ages is coming to western shores. Check out the debut English video below, along with the official announcement.

When Level-5 initially mentioned Fantasy Life 2, most fans assumed that it would be on the 3DS just like the original game. So it was certainly surprising to see at the Level-5 Vision 2015 event on Tuesday that the title is being developed for mobile devices instead.

This week’s issue of Famitsu has an interview with Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino, and the magazine was also surprised by the change in platforms for the Fantasy Life series. Responding to this, Hino said:

I’d say Fantasy Life has elements and mechanisms which adults find soothing. Although children play games on dedicated game systems, recently many adults have been playing on smartphones.

Hino also mentioned that “The supported hardware for this game was decided based on thinking of an environment where more adults play.”

That may not have been the response that 3DS owners would have liked to hear, but it’s somewhat of an explanation as to why Fantasy Life 2 isn’t on Nintendo’s portable system. We’ll just have to hope that the IP will one day make a return to dedicated gaming hardware!

One fan recently wrote in to Nintendo’s customer service team about the amiibo shortage situation. In response to this person’s email, the following response was delivered:

Thank you for writing. I apologize for the delay in our reply. I’m sorry to hear of your disappointment with the availability and distribution of amiibo, and would like you to know that we have documented and shared your concerns with the relevant departments here at Nintendo.

Additionally, I’d like to convey that we are aware of the popularity of amiibo and continually aim to always have a regular supply of amiibo in the marketplace. As stated previously, certain sold-out amiibo may return to your local retailer at a later stage. We apologize for any inconvenience you are experiencing now, and thank you in advance for your continued patience in this matter.

The same fan wrote back to Nintendo, and made some accusations about the company manipulating amiibo demand via the supply chain. That led the representative to explain how the supply chain actually works:

More:

We first learned that Masahiro Sakurai has been dealing with calcific tendinitis in his right shoulder about two years ago. His condition has improved at least slightly based on what’s written in his latest Famitsu column, though he’s still dealing with the physical problems.

Sakurai wrote:

“I still have trouble with my shoulder and the symptoms of tenosynovitis still remain, so I’m forced to use a special mouse that clicks by inclining for work. If I was to button mash, my arm would give out in 10 minutes.”

Sakurai is currently busy with downloadable content for Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS. Mewtwo and Lucas are on the way, with more DLC characters to come.

Target opened pre-orders for the Jigglypuff amiibo a couple of times, and in both cases, they sold out very quickly. Unfortunately, the retailer has now confirmed that it will no longer be taking on any additional reservations.

You can still try your luck in-store on May 29. Target.com may also have a bit of additional inventory on that same day as well.

A representative told Amiibo Inquirer:

That’s correct. The Jigglypuff Amiibo has been popular! No additional preorders are being taken. Guests can visit stores or Target.com on May 29. Quantities will be limited.

Nintendo of America’s headquarters in Washington has a store that’s for employees only (under most circumstances). While the company doesn’t allow for any photos/videos to be taken, IGN did purchase a few items from the store and showed them off in a new video. You can find that above.

Yo-Kai Watch protagonist Keita Amano has a new name in western territories. He now goes by “Nathan Adams”, according to VIZ Media. The company is publishing the Yo-Kai Watch manga overseas later this year.

VIZ Media shares the following story summary:

Nathan Adams is just an average kid until the mysterious Whisper gives him a device that allows him to see what others cannot, Yo-kai of all shapes and forms! Now, armed with the Yo-kai Watch, Nathan, Whisper and their new invisible friends embark on an all new supernatural adventure!

Nintendo and Level-5 finally announced localization of Yo-Kai Watch for 3DS earlier today. You can find the news here.

Update: Double rumor! There’s now speculation that Meta Knight will return sometime this summer at Best Buy. A corporate-level employee at the retailer has apparently said that the restock will be happening, but a date hasn’t been shared yet.

The Meta Knight amiibo appears to have been discontinued at Best Buy.

On Saturday, Best Buy listed the figure as “Active”. But today, that changed to “Deleted”. Because items tend to stay “Deleted” once they’ve reached that status, the assumption is that Meta Knight won’t be returning to Best Buy in the future.

We’ll let you know if we hear anything official about the Meta Knight amiibo going forward.
