eShop web store pages discovered
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS eShop, General Nintendo, News, Wii U eShop | 35 Comments
Nintendo promised a web-based eShop ages ago. But for whatever reason, it has yet to materialize. Perhaps something is on the horizon though…
A few folks over on NeoGAF have managed to detect a live page for the web eShop. You can view it right here. While it’s clearly still a work in progress (and likely not meant to be accessed by the common user), it seems that there’s actually some functionality in place.
We’re hearing some reports that automatic downloading is working for Wii U, believe it or not. Users can enter a redeemable code on this page.
When will Nintendo officially launch the web eShop? That is unknown at present. But at the very least, it still appears to be development… and hopefully we’ll see it officially go live soon!

Famitsu teases a new scoop for its next issue
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 0 comments
Famitsu is up to its fairly typical teasing antics. Included in a notice for the magazine’s next issue is the mention of a new scoop. Famitsu also intends to share news about an indie game, though it’s unclear if there’s any relation to the tease. Even more Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate coverage is planned as well.
Famitsu scoops can be either hit or miss, so take the latest scoop tease as you will. There have been issues that have resulted in some great announcements and reveals about pre-existing games, while others have turned out to be duds. We’ll see how this one turns out in a few days!

Monster Hunter games don’t have a “Desire Sensor” as some have speculated
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, General Nintendo, News, Wii, Wii U | 6 Comments
Have you ever heard of something called the “Desire Sensor”? Those who have played the Monster Hunter titles have speculated about the sensor, which is programming within the games that can detect which loot players are searching for. The loot in question is then automatically made more difficult to find in order to keep gamers playing.
But no: there is no Desire Sensor in Monster Hunter. Series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto confirmed to Siliconera that this “feature” does not exist.
Tsujimoto said:
“You should probably wear gloves when you play. Try not to sweat, because it’s sensing your nervousness from the sweat on your hands. To be honest, that’s something that’s a popular urban legend. We actually hear that a lot, but it’s just a form of confirmation bias. When you’re looking for something specific, it feels like you never come across it. I myself experience that while playing—we’re all on an even playing field.”
“That (Desire Sensor) is absolutely not a thing. What people are seeing is just confirmation bias.”
