Another round of Rayman Legends details have emerged from Ubisoft’s recent press event. Gamekult published a preview of the game, which has since been partially translated.

Information from the site’s article can be found below.

  • Touch levels design has been completely re-worked from Wii U/Vita version to match with the other consoles. The purpose was to obtain the same kind of difficulty/rhythm/balance.
  • The overall difficulty has been toned down compared to Rayman Origins, leaving more space for a “progressive” evolution. They however focused on implementing a lot of secrets and challenges to satisfy gamers looking for more while avoiding frustration for the others.
  • The Preview Demo was including a new sub-aquatic level, with a more “open” structure. The level included a central hub to return to, with several switches to activate around the open level to free the way to continue.
  • The extra-time given by the infamous delay allowed them to work on an “Invasion” version of the existing levels. These are completely re-worked versions of the levels (“à la” Super Mario 3D Land extra levels) including Time-attack challenges.
  • Christophe Héral, who was in charge of Rayman Origins’ music, is back for Rayman Legends “with a surprise” for those completing the game at 100%
  • PS Vita Version is identical to Wii U version in terms of gameplay (including touch levels). It even adds 5 exclusives “touch” levels. Performance-wise, the Vita version tested ran smoothly but with some dips below 60 FPS (whereas Wii U was rock-solid 60 FPS).
  • There is no over-arching scenario that builds a logic to the entire game. These are stand-alone “universes” that are pure context excuses for the fun, gameplay and art.

Nintendo’s E3 presentations have typically lasted around an hour or so. That will be the case once again this year, despite the fact that the company won’t be hosting a large-scale conference.

Nintendo’s E3 Nintendo Direct, airing on June 11, will indeed be an hour long. This is confirmed through the Big N’s newly-opened E3 site. If you click the “Add it to your calender button”, you’ll find that the broadcast is set to take place between 10 AM ET / 7 AM PT and 11 AM ET / 8 PM PT.

That should be plenty of time to show off brand new Wii U titles – and hopefully some 3DS stuff as well.

Nintendo’s E3 2013 website is locked and loaded. Access it here.

Naturally, there isn’t a ton of content on the site at present, but it does confirm that a live-stream will be hosted directly on the page. Additionally, the site promises “game trailers, interviews, and more.” We’ll likely be seeing coverage similar to that of Nintendo All-Access content from previous years.

One other tidbit – Nintendo’s E3 site confirms the number of Wii U titles that will be playable at Best Buy locations. That would be four. Pikmin 3, Mario 3D, Wind Waker HD and Mario Kart Wii U are likely to be on display. Those are just my guesses!

During an AMA (“ask me anything”) on reddit last night, Precursor Games executive Shawn Jackson was asked whether or not we could see Shadow of the Eternals (a spiritual successor to Gamecube hit Eternal Darkness) come out even if the Kickstarter didn’t reach his goal. His response:

“Since we do not have any other source of funding, it is unlikely.”

– Precursor exec Shawn Jackson

As their campaign has only reached $270,000 of their $1.5M goal, things aren’t looking great for the project as it stands right now. Unless something big happens and people get on board, we probably won’t see a spiritual sequel to Eternal Darkness anytime soon, despite how much clamoring we had for one.

Shin Megami Tensei saw an 80.14% sell-through rate during its debut week in Japan. That compares favorably to the previous entry in the series, Nocturne, which sold through 75.7% of its initial shipment.

The actual sales figures are similar as well. Shin Megami Tensei IV moved 188,562 copies in its first week while Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne sold 185,000 copies.
