Soul Saga

Back in 2013, developer Disastercake started a Kickstarter campaign to fund a new 3D JRPG-inspired videogame called Soul Saga. It quickly reached the goal to have the game ported to Wii U, but we didn’t hear of it again until now.

Disastercake posted a comment on the Kickstarter page announcing that Soul Saga is still coming to Wii U and that they currently have no plans on porting the game to Switch.

“A lot of fans are asking me to port Soul Saga to the Switch. I’m still planning to port Soul Saga to WiiU (after PC version is complete), but unfortunately I don’t have any further information on the Switch right now. If anything evolves on either of those fronts I’ll be sure to make an update covering it. =)”

Unlike other cases, Soul Saga won’t change platforms and will still arrive on the Wii U eShop in the future, regardless of the short lifespan remaining in the Nintendo platform.

Villa Gorilla has announced Yoku’s Island Express, “an open world/metroidvania-style pinball adventure”. The game is planned for Switch and other platforms.

Yoku’s Island Express kicks off as Yoku the dung beetle arrives on the beach of Mokumana Island as the new postman. However, the ancient island God is trapped in a restless sleep and the islanders are being forced to deal with quakes and storms brought forth by its nightmares. In the game, which mixes platform navigation with pinball mechanics across a large open world, you’ll “soar through the air, vacuum explosive snails, fight a Screetch, feed starving lemurs, discover the mystery of the Fruit Altar, wake an old god, and hopefully help tiny Yoku rebuild the island post-office.”

Here’s a rundown of features:

– Genre combining open world pinballing
– Unique beautifully handpainted artwork
– An island filled with unique creatures, both big and small
– Action-packed nonlinear gameplay that awards exploration

You can watch a trailer for Yoku’s Island Express below. The project is quite far off as it won’t be ready until Winter 2017 / 2018.

The Nintendo Account website got a minor facelift and some new features today in preparation for the launch of the Nintendo Switch next week. Generally, the website looks a lot cleaner now with less settings and features stuck together in one category.

Some of the new & updated features include:

  • You can now change the language of the Nintendo Account website without having to change your country of residence in the settings
  • Parental Controls: create an account with restricted features for a child, such as a spending limit and age-based purchase restrictions on the eShop
  • Account Activity: See a list of purchases associated with your account. If you linked your NNID with your Nintendo Account, your digital 3DS and Wii U games will show up here.
  • Friend Suggestions: This feature lets you connect with friends across multiple Nintendo Account linked services by providing friend recommendations in one service based on your existing friends in another service. This currently only works with Nintendo’s mobile games, but not with the Wii U and 3DS.

The official Japanese website for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was updated today with profiles of some of the characters that appear in the game. Other than Link and Zelda and the generic Bokoblin and Guardian enemies, there are also profiles for three of the characters that were first seen in the latest trailer shown at the Switch reveal last month. We already got some info on them in Famitsu a couple of weeks ago and their profiles on the website don’t really reveal anything new, but we do get some nice high-resolution artwork of them, plus their official English names (or at the very least, the official romanization of their Japanese names). The Goron warrior is known as Daruk, the Rito archer is called Revali and the Zora girl is known as Mipha. Check out the artwork in the gallery below:
