With all the big Pokémon news from earlier today, it’s easy to forget that Pokémon Shuffle is due for an update! This week brings a repeat run of a new Mega competion, for Steelixite, as well as a new, special stage for Entei, some repeats, and a brief Victini stage.

The Mega-Steelix stage is, as usual, a competition, where the top players by region will earn various prizes. The top 15,000 players in Europe, 22,000 in North America, and 60,000 in Japan will earn the Steelixite, with other prizes as follows:
-Raise Max Level: Top 1,200 (EU), 1,800 (NA), and 5,000 (JP)
-Mega Speedup: Top 3,800 (EU), 5,600 (NA), and 15,000 (JP)
-Disruption Delay: Top 20,000 (EU), 30,000 (NA), and 80,000 (JP)
-Attack Power: All players who don’t get the Steelixite
The competition will run until August 9.

A special stage for Entei has also appeared. Though Entei is able to be caught in the main game, this stage may drop an Entei Skill Booster or a Raise Max Level. This stage will run until August 9.

Meanwhile, the Daily Pokémon (#3), Ash-Greninja, and Reshiram stages are returning until August 16. The Daily Pokémon Stage (#3) features Girafarig, Kecleon, Shuckle, Relicanth and Spiritomb, changing on a daily basis.

Finally, a Victini stage has appeared. It will drop extra Experience Points, but will only last until August 3. Also, it can only be played once without spending any Jewels.

The latest incidents with Pokémon GO (removal of the footprint display, shutting down third-party tracking sites) caused quite a stir in the community. Niantic has now offered up a statement on these changes. For the footprints and the 3-step glitch, they stated that the feature itself was confusing and that they were working to improve it. For third-parties, they suggest that that these services were harming their services and making things, such as expanding to new countries, more difficult. They also note that the game is coming to Brazil soon. You can read their full statement below:

Trainers,
As many of you know, we recently made some changes to Pokémon GO.
– We have removed the ‘3-step’ display in order to improve upon the underlying design. The original feature, although enjoyed by many, was also confusing and did not meet our underlying product goals. We will keep you posted as we strive to improve this feature.
– We have limited access by third-party services which were interfering with our ability to maintain quality of service for our users and to bring Pokémon GO to users around the world. The large number of users has made the roll-out of Pokémon GO around the world an… interesting… challenge. And we aren’t done yet! Yes, Brazil, we want to bring the game to you (and many other countries where it is not yet available).
We have read your posts and emails and we hear the frustration from folks in places where we haven’t launched yet, and from those of you who miss these features. We want you to know that we have been working crazy hours to keep the game running as we continue to launch globally. If you haven’t heard us Tweeting much it’s because we’ve been heads down working on the game. But we’ll do our best going forward to keep you posted on what’s going on.

Stickman Super Athletics was confirmed for release in Europe on Thursday through the weekly Nintendo Download report shared earlier today. In North America, we now know that the game will release on the same day, according to an eShop listing. Stickman Super Athletics will cost $2.49.

Ubisoft announced Just Dance 2017 as its first NX title during E3 2016. However, the publisher has more support planned for the system beyond that one game.

Speaking with GamesIndustry, Ubisoft head of EMEA Alain Corre teased:

“We announced that we’re developing Just Dance for NX and we have other surprises that we will announce later, but we also believe Nintendo has the power to reinvent the way families are playing. Nintendo is a fantastic powerhouse of brands that are really cherished by a lot of fans and families… I am still impressed by the reoccurrence of success and appetite even today for the Nintendo franchises on the current system.”

Unfortunately, Corre did not provide any hints as to what Ubisoft is planning. We’ll hopefully learn more when NX is unveiled later this year.

Mortar Melon now has a release date in Europe. On the eShop, the game will release on August 11 for €5.00.

Here’s an overview:

“Drag the mortar, aim, and fling the melon to collect the fruit! Whizzing through the air you’ll fly across the world, tapping and dragging your environment to release the juicy goods! Look out for pointy objects or you’ll explode on impact, sending melony chunks and pips flying! It’s a crazy, fruity, physics machine.”

Mortar Melon previously launched in North America last August.

Nintendo is reminding folks about a service change planned for the DSi Shop. On September 30 at 5 PM PT / 8 PM ET, you will no longer be able to add DSi Points with either a credit card or Points Card.

The move is being made ahead of the DSi Shop’s closure on March 31, 2016. More information can be found here.
