Guitar Hero Live, the developer behind Guitar Hero Live, has been hit with layoffs. Although not confirmed, Eurogamer has heard that roughly 50 people have been made redundant. FreeStyle’s website indicates that 100 staff were housed at the company.
Activision’s official statement is as follows:
Activision and FreeStyle Games leadership have been considering a range of future options for the studio, and have been consulting with staff to explore all alternatives. The collective team have now reached the end of a consultation exercise and the decision has been made to restructure FreeStyleGames to better align the studio resources with future business needs. We are working with the studio teams to explore options to rebalance staff within Activision Blizzard and its related organisations.
The UK remains a key market for Activision Blizzard and FreeStyleGames continues to be a great partner. We thank all of the team for their continued passion, creativity and commitment.
Activision previously stated in February that Guitar Hero Live experienced “lower than expected performance”.

Primary Shift planned for the Wii U eShop

Coup de Grece has been working on a new action-platformer for Wii U called “Primary Shift”. This has players shifting the background’s color in order to control the platforms, enemies and obstacles that appear on screen.
The action takes place in a school that has school supplies as platforms and number as enemies. You’ll need to help Timo graduate by getting good grades in over 40 levels. The best time will be recorded at the end of the course.
Here’s a rundown of features:
· Platforming action
· Color shifting mechanic
· 4 different types of level objective
· 40 challenging levels (okay, first few are easy)
· Replay value: beat your best times in time trials
And a trailer:
Look for Primary Shift on the eShop soon.
