The video game industry is currently mourning the loss of the CEO of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata. Posts have been made all across social media sending their condolences to Nintendo, as well as Iwata’s family, friends and co-workers while everyone reminisces on all the great memories he’s given through us throughout the years through Nintendo Directs, E3 presentations, his contribution to video games and a copious amount of events.

All across Miiverse, fans of Nintendo have been posting about their sadness concerning the news, whether it be through drawn posts or text. It’s obviously something that has impacted us all and has hurt us deeply, and it’s quite hard to keep up with all of it, so a thread has currently been set up on Miiverse where you can post your thoughts and feelings concerning Iwata-san’s untimely passing. RIP Iwata-san. Thank you for all you’ve done for us, making video games a part of who we are, and never forgetting that we’re ultimately trying to have fun at the end of the day. Thank you for the smiles, thank you for the memories – thank you for being you. You will be missed.

Xeodrifter is coming to Wii U on July 30, Renegade Kid has announced. Studio co-founder Jools Watsham made the announcement during Nintendo World Rapport.

If you’ve previously purchased Xeodrifter on 3DS, the Wii U version will be free of charge. Cross-buy is also supported for new buyers of the game.

Satoru Iwata, president of Nintendo, has passed away. The company said in an official document that his death came about due to a bile duct growth, which he had been previously treated for.

Here’s a look at the notice in full:

Satoru Iwata started his gaming career when he joined HAL Laboratory following his graduation from university. He became the company’s president in 1993. Iwata became a part of Nintendo in 2000, and took over as president in 2002.

Iwata has regularly appeared in Nintendo Direct presentations to provide updates directly to fans over the past few years. He was also in charge of the Iwata Asks interview series, which provided interesting looks into the development of Nintendo games.

Famitsu held a reader poll for Xenoblade Chronicles X in one of its most recent issues. 1,257 people participated in the survey, and voted on topics such as the game’s difficulty, amount of content, and more.

Kotaku translated a number of questions several days back, but we’ve gone ahead and gathered up additional data – largely because the results were quite interesting! Continue on below to see what players thought of the Skells, squads, overall rating, and more.

Q1: [Respondents chose from pre-determined categories for elements they expected from the game and what things they liked after playing. Multiple choices were allowed.] Many players expected “World setting/Story” from the game, but “Exploration on the field” received the most votes for being good after respondents had played the game. Players were dissatisfied with the position of the main character and the degree of emotionalism of the story, so “World setting/Story” received harsh numbers in the latter question. [Note: respondents were able to choose multiple points and Famitsu expressed the results in a weird way. For example, it doesn’t mean 8% of the respondents thought the story was good. It means story had 8 percent of all votes when a single respondent may give 0-10 different votes. The percentage doesn’t tell how much players like each element. Rather, it shows how much they like each element in comparison to other elements.]

Q9: Collectopedia items are important for completing quests. It is intended that players share information of collectible items, so there are basically no hints for getting the items. More than 40 percent of the respondents thought that having few hints wasn’t much fun.

We recently heard that Elliot Quest’s Wii U sales were much stronger than its PC counterpart. Now the developer of High Strangeness has something similar about his title.

Ben “AgentMOO” Shostak, speaking during a recent episode of Sup Holmes, said that High Strangeness sold “much better” on the Wii U than on Steam. Specific sales figures weren’t shared, but that statement along is very encouraging to hear.
