Nintendo has published a new press release, which reveals the latest details about Splatoon. You can find it in full below.

REDMOND, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Splatoon, Nintendo’s upcoming third-person action shooter game for the Wii U console, combines elements of shooting, strategy and action – and original new characters, Inklings, that can instantaneously transform between human and squid form. Splatoon gives players the goal of covering as much territory as possible with their ink-spewing weapons. The game, which is scheduled to launch in May, features four-on-four online team matches, as well as a full single-player mode that takes players deeper into the game’s unique world and characters.

The game’s main online mode is Turf War, in which players with broadband Internet access can compete head-to-head in four-on-four teams to try to cover as much territory as possible in their team’s ink. As they do battle, players will gain levels and earn in-game currency that allows them to customize their Inkling. Players can equip different pieces of clothing, which each provide different game-play perks like swimming more quickly through ink or decreasing the time needed for them to refill their ink canister. Players can also equip pre-determined weapon sets consisting of main weapons like rapid-fire ink guns, long-range ink rifles and paint rollers, as well as sub-weapons like ink bombs or sprinklers. Players can also fill up their special gauge in battle to unleash powerful special weapons for a brief period of time. Players will battle in a variety of online multiplayer maps, including the newly announced Blackbelly Skatepark, Saltspray Rig and Walleye Warehouse.

The folks behind Man at Arms: Reforged are at it again! This time around, the crew has recreated Link’s Hylian Shield in real life. Check it out below:

This isn’t the time we’ve featured some impressive creations from Man at Arms. The team has also made Link’s Fierce Deity Sword, Chrom’s Falchion, and the Pokemon Honedge.

I’m not usually one to post tidbits coming from Nintendo representatives, in large part because they don’t always know what they’re talking about. However, some interesting information has surfaced from “D” over on NeoGAF, who spoke with a rep while at GameStop.

Below is a quick summary:

– West Coast port strike directly affected amiibo shipments
– Nintendo still has amiibo from January/February on shipping crates that haven’t been unloaded
– Amiibo for the newer wave (King Dedede, Sonic, etc.) were delivered by air
– This costs a lot of money, and Nintendo doesn’t intend to keep on doing that
– There will be a restock of older waves, especially for rare characters such as Wii Fit Trainer
– Nintendo only made so many since they thought there wouldn’t be much demand for some franchises with obscure characters
– Nintendo has been receiving a ton of emails from people that can’t find/are looking for these rare characters, and they are trying to do what they can to get them out there but due to the port strike
– A lot of those characters are still on the ships
– You should keep checking store for some of the older characters to appear
– amiibo for the upcoming wave (Ness, Charizard, etc.) are having their release dates and pre-orders held at due to the port strike and because Nintendo wants to make sure the situation with the strike will not affect shipments again
– Nintendo also wants to gauge the market for demand, which will determine how many to produce
– Once most of the cargo gets offloaded and the situation improves, Nintendo will talk to retailers about stock, and an announcement will be made
– Majora’s Mask New 3DS XL is gone
– It was truly a limited edition release
– There is no stock anywhere in any warehouse, and there are no plans for a restock
– Retailers were apparently informed about 6 months before the Majora’s Mask New 3DS XL release and ordered accordingly
– The rep didn’t know anything about a release date or Nintendo Direct for the remaining Mario Kart 8 or Mewtwo DLC
– Nintendo Directs are somewhat random in nature, and the rep doesn’t really get any sort of heads up
– If Nintendo wants to show gameplay of something, then the Directs are the only way they’ll do it

We can’t officially confirm that the information above is valid. It definitely sounds spot on though!

Indie game “Frizzy” is making its way to the Wii U eShop this summer. We don’t have a whole lot of information currently, but brief trailers show the player controlling a ball of fur/dirt, mixed with a bit of platforming. There will be enemies to take on as well.

Last week, Nintendo of America held a Splatoon press event at its Redmond, Washington headquarters. Reggie Fils-Aime was in attendance, and shared a few words about the new game.

Fils-Aime stated that Splatoon is “aiming to do for action shooters what Mario Kart did for racing.” He also said that its a “major” new IP for Nintendo, and mentioned that it’s “not just about kills. It’s designed to be fun no matter what your skill level is.”

Capcom is teaming up with Six Flags to bring the Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate experience to guests at Six Flags Magic Mountain, the “Thrill Capital of the World.” Between March 28 and August 10, the Goliath roller coaster will be re-themed to Capcom’s 3DS game, and the national Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate traveling Caravan Tour will be making a stop at Six Flags Magic Mountain for special event days on March 28 and 29.

Here’s the full rundown of Capcom and Six Flags’ plans:

With the Six Flags partnership, the game will come to life with one dedicated passenger train of the Goliath coaster custom-skinned to resemble the game’s flagship Gore Magala monster. The Goliath “coaster giant” is a metal monster with a staggering 255 foot drop taken at 85 mph, making this one of the longest and fastest drops in the world. Once riders conquer the thrilling high-speed banked turns, camelback hills, huge spiral curves and “zero gravity” drops of the Gore Magala themed Goliath coaster, they will have a chance to tackle the ferocious Gore Magala in game form as they test out the Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate demo at kiosks inside the Cyber Cafe. Special Monster Hunter merchandise will also be for sale in the park to commemorate this ultimate vertical adventure.

Fans who visit Six Flags Magic Mountain for the opening weekend of the Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate program can also attend the special Caravan event on March 28 or 29, where they will be immersed in the world of Monster Hunter with a custom setting that recreates the look and feel of the traveling Caravan from the game. They will also be able to meet up to play the game with fellow hunters and Capcom staff on those days.
