Xenoblade devs on the New 3DS port, why it’s not on Wii U, Xenoblade Chronicles X “will have a different play feel”
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, New Nintendo 3DS, News, Wii, Wii U | 12 Comments
GameSpot was able to submit a few questions to the developers behind Xenoblade Chronicles 3D. That includes Monolith Soft’s Testuya Takahashi, representatives from Monster Games, and representatives from Nintendo SPD.
Most of the interview topics were naturally about the New 3DS title, including the technical challenges behind the project and how Monster Games initially tried bringing it to the original 3DS. There were also questions about the decision to port Xenoblade Chronicles to the New 3DS as opposed to remastering the title for Wii U, and what fans can expect from Xenoblade Chronicles X.
Head on below for the full Q&A roundup. You can also check out GameSpot’s piece here.

Capcom began designing Monster Hunter Stories about five years ago
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 4 Comments
Monster Hunter Stories has been a long time coming from Capcom. In a message from series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto, he reveals that the company began designing the game roughly five years ago.
Tsujimoto said:
After having passed the 10th anniversary last year, this is a new challenge for the Monster Hunter series, that we’ve began designing since about five years ago. While staying true to the world of Monster Hunter, and a story that can only be told through an RPG, we’d like to pack it with fun and enjoyment that we can’t even begin to describe with words. It is still in the middle of development, we’d like to offer you a new kind of excitement that is different from the conventional series, and the development staff are working on it in full-spirit.
Along with the above comments, Tsujimoto said Monster Hunter Stories will allow players to become “Riders” instead of Hunters. The RPG will tell the tale between the Riders and monsters.

Level-5 CEO on the platform decision behind Fantasy Life 2
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, General Nintendo, News | 26 Comments
When Level-5 initially mentioned Fantasy Life 2, most fans assumed that it would be on the 3DS just like the original game. So it was certainly surprising to see at the Level-5 Vision 2015 event on Tuesday that the title is being developed for mobile devices instead.
This week’s issue of Famitsu has an interview with Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino, and the magazine was also surprised by the change in platforms for the Fantasy Life series. Responding to this, Hino said:
I’d say Fantasy Life has elements and mechanisms which adults find soothing. Although children play games on dedicated game systems, recently many adults have been playing on smartphones.
Hino also mentioned that “The supported hardware for this game was decided based on thinking of an environment where more adults play.”
That may not have been the response that 3DS owners would have liked to hear, but it’s somewhat of an explanation as to why Fantasy Life 2 isn’t on Nintendo’s portable system. We’ll just have to hope that the IP will one day make a return to dedicated gaming hardware!

Yoshi spotted on the Japanese Mario Maker website
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 5 Comments
Given how Yoshi was in Super Mario World, it would have been strange had he not been featured in Mario Maker. Thankfully, the game’s website does appear to confirm that Yoshi will be in the Wii U title. That isn’t all, however; Kuribo’s Shoe seems to be in as well.
