3DS eShop

In May, Chase: Cold Case Investigations – Distant Memories released on the Japanese 3DS eShop. It was a new game from Arc System Works, with Hotel Dusk: Room 215 director Taisuke Kanasaki and former CING employees on board for the project.

Today, Aksys Games announced at its Anime Expo panel that the title will be heading west. It’ll be available this fall on the eShop.

Chase: Cold Case Investigations stars detectives Shounosuke Nanase and Koto Amekura as they investigate a reopened case about an explosion and death. It was originally determined to be an accident, but an anonymous caller informs the division that it was actually murder.

Here’s one of the Japanese trailers for the game:

Capcom has released a new Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Spirit of Justice trailer in celebration of Anime Expo 2016 that shows Maya Fey and more. View it below.

Capcom also shared the following information about the game’s characters today:

Returning series favourite Maya Fey makes her comeback, but all is not as it seems as she is soon directly caught up in a crime drama herself within the Kingdom of Khura’in, where she’s been in training. Having been reunited with her just before the drama ensues, it’s up to Phoenix to demonstrate his skills in the foreign courtroom to try and save his long-time friend and assistant. Will they both make it out alive?

Digger Dan DX only just launched a couple of months ago, but the game has been put in a very unfortunate situation. Due to a takedown notice from First Star Software, who holds the rights to Boulder Dash, Nintendo told developer that the title needs to be removed. Four Horses says it doesn’t have the money to fight the claim, so that basically means it’s the end for Digger Dan DX.

Four Horses said:

I’ve received notice from Nintendo this morning that Digger Dan DX is being pulled from both NOA and NOE eShops as they have received a takedown notice from First Star Software, owners of the rights to Boulder Dash.

I’ve not found details of the copyrights they have registered yet so am unable to determine what rights they think it has broken, but as far as I can tell, it is likely to be gameplay elements which I am pretty sure cannot be protected by copyright.

Regardless, Nintendo are pulling it (it is currently still on the NOE eShop, not sure about NOA), and I don’t have the money to fight them, so Digger Dan is no more.

We can confirm that Digger Dan DX has been removed if North America. It’s apparently still up in the game, but definitely not for very long. It’s a very unfortunate situation.
