Word Puzzles by POWGI coming to 3DS this year, has amiibo support
Posted on 9 years ago by Matt(@OnePunchMaz) in 3DS eShop, News | 0 comments
Lightwood Games, known for their word puzzle mini-games, have just announced another title coming to a Nintendo system. In addition to Word Party, which is coming to Wii U next week, Word Puzzles by POWGI will be released on Nintendo 3DS later this year. The interesting part is that the game will have full amiibo support – i.e. every single amiibo will be supported. Scan an amiibo with your New 3DS or with the amiibo scanner for the older models and the game will generate a word puzzle based on that amiibo.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: 2nd November, 2015
Stoke-on-Trent, UK – Lightwood Games is excited to announce their next title on the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo 3DS. “Word Puzzles by POWGI” is expected later this year.
Word Puzzles by POWGI contains six different pen-and-paper style word puzzles which are solved using the stylus and intuitive touch-screen controls.
Featuring hundreds of expertly hand-crafted word puzzles, and with a firm focus on the content, it’s a no-fluff puzzle variety pack that’s ready to play whenever you are.
As well as solving the included puzzle content, players can unlock special, custom content by touching an amiibo. Each figure generates a unique personalised puzzle containing its nickname.
The puzzles included are:
• Word Maze – Like a wiggly word search! Find the words and solve the maze!
• Mixups – A fiendishly difficult anagram puzzle with three words all jumbled together!
• One Word – The word search puzzle where there’s only one word to find!
• Flowers – Plant pairs of letters around the flower to grow six words with a common middle!
• Circles – Three overlapping circles hide three connected words. Find the missing letter to unscramble them all!
• Crossovers – Crossword puzzles with only one letter missing, which come together to solve a clue!Word Games are Lightwood’s speciality. It is the developer behind Word Party, a series of competitive word puzzle mini-games, for Wii U, set for release in November. The firm has also worked on a number of other titles in collaboration with POWGI, and several mobile apps.
Word Search by POWGI was released on Nintendo 3DS and Wii U in April 2015. Word Search Party has been downloaded nearly two million times on iPhone and iPad.
POWGI – Puzzle On Word Games, Inc – is a puzzle content publisher based in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Comic Workshop 2 – version 1.2 coming soon to North America as well
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS eShop, News | 0 comments
Comic Workshop 2 received its 1.2 update in Europe earlier this week. There’s now some good news to report on for North America, with Collavier confirming on Miiverse that the patch is due out there soon as well – apparently next week.
Two main aspects are behind the new update. Collavier has addressed some bugs, and has also added an auto-correction for curves.
Here’s the news from Miiverse:

IARC rating system now live for the eShop
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS eShop, News, Wii U eShop | 5 Comments
We’ve previously talked about the IARC rating system and how it would be extremely beneficial for eShop developers as well as gamers in general. Thanks to what it provides, anyone can easily submit their title and have it rated in various regions.
We recently heard that the IARC rating system would be coming very soon to the eShop. And interestingly, it looks like this has now happened. Information coming from a pair of independent developers reveal that the system is up and running for Nindies. We probably won’t see any immediate results, but developers are now starting to take advantage of what the IARC provides.

Nintendo shops undergoing 24-hour maintenance in a couple of days
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS eShop, DSiWare, News, Wii Shop Channel, Wii U eShop | 4 Comments
Nintendo’s various shops are undergoing some heavy maintenance in just a few days. This will begin Sunday evening for those of you in North America and in the very early morning on Monday over in Europe. The Wii U and 3DS eShops, Wii Shopping Channel, and DSi Shop will be affected.
The upcoming maintenance is particularly notable due to its length. It seems that the maintenance period will last nearly an entire day.
Here’s the full breakdown of times:
– 7 PM PT (Sunday) – 7 PM PT (Monday)
– 10 PM ET (Sunday) – 10 PM ET (Monday)
– 3 AM in the UK (Monday) – 3 AM in the UK (Tuesday)
– 4 AM in Europe (Monday) – 4 AM in Europe (Tuesday)
As for the reasoning behind the downtime, Nintendo says that it’s planning a large-scale exchange of servers. It’s also possible that the maintenance will end a bit early, though you should definitely expect it to take awhile!
