Nintendo Switch

Nintendo issued a major update for Switch last night, upgrading the firmware to version 10.0.0. You can read about all of the new features here.

Aside from what Nintendo officially shared, version 10.0.0 also appears to make some notable additions behind the scenes. Dataminer Mike Heskin, after poking through the update, reports that Nintendo has added preliminary support for a new hardware model, which is known as “nx-abcd”. Heskin further states that “3 of the 5 new DRAM profiles are for this new hardware type and there’s evidence of a secondary display of sorts being added exclusively on this model.”

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said earlier this year that there are no plans to release a new Switch model in 2020. The company has somewhat struggled to keep up with demand for the system as of late – particular in Japan – in light of the coronavirus.

Bravely Second: End Layer

Several years after the franchise’s absence, Square Enix is finally returning to the Bravely series. Bravely Default II marks the first entry on Switch, and will launch later in 2020.

In an interview with Famitsu, producer Tomoya Asano spoke about the last title, Bravely Second, and had some interesting words to share. Asano actually apologized for the 3DS title since he feels some aspects “didn’t meet the many expectations fans had.”

Asano mentioned, as translated by DualShockers:

Nintendo has confirmed via Twitter that the upcoming epilogue featured in Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, Future Connected, is set one year after the events of the main game.

Future Connected is a brand new story featuring Shulk and Melia, but no specifics of the epilogue have been shared yet. It was previously revealed that it can be accessed at any point during Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition releases May 29th 2020.
