FIFA on Switch is FIFA 18 after all, launches September 29
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 43 Comments
Update: This concerning note was found buried in the video:
It’s looking like FIFA 18 on Switch wasn’t made with the Frostbite engine, and at least one mode is missing. We’re hoping that EA hasn’t made a ton of compromises here. FIFA 18’s Switch version is likely more in line with the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions as opposed to PS4 and Xbox One.
Original: There’s been some uncertainty as to what FIFA on Switch actually is. EA seems to have finally settled on things, as a new announcement that just went out has the game down as “FIFA 18”.
Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid C.F. will be appearing as the global cover star of FIFA 18. We also have confirmation that it’s launching on September 29 worldwide.
We’ve included a trailer promoting Ronaldo as FIFA 18’s cover athlete below.
Note: before anyone gets confused, the video above isn’t where we’ve received the information. A press email delivered to us notes that FIFA 18 is “launching worldwide September 29, 2017 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 systems.”

Final Fantasy XIV still a possibility for Switch, discussions with Nintendo may take awhile
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 18 Comments
Square Enix has mentioned on a couple of occasions that Final Fantasy XIV is a possibility for Switch. This is something that director Naoki Yoshida reiterated once again while speaking with finder.com.au.
According to Yoshida, discussions with Nintendo are ongoing. However, when putting Final Fantasy XIV on a new platform, supporting the community is a shared responsibility between Square Enix and Nintendo. The two sides are talking about this (and likely more), but Yoshida said that “these conversations will take a long time.”
Yoshida’s full words:
“We want as many players joining Final Fantasy XIV as possible. …We need to make sure Nintendo and Microsoft understand what we do and have them know about our online and QA regulations. We believe these conversations will take a long time.”

Splatoon 2: Blaster returns, comes with new poison mist sub-weapon
Posted on 7 years ago by Matt(@OnePunchMaz) in News, Screenshots, Switch | 7 Comments
The official Splatoon Twitter account has introduced a new sub-weapon in Splatoon 2 – poison mist. This is a thrown weapon that produces a cloud of poison mist in the area it lands. Enemies who are in that cloud move slowly, just as if they were talking through ink of the opposing team. This effect gets stronger the longer you stay in the cloud.
This is definitely an interesting new sub-weapon that opens up tons of new tactical possibilities. It may not do damage, but forcing your enemies to move slowly could be quite devastating for them.
We already know one main weapon that comes in a set with the poison mist – the Blaster. The Twitter account confirmed that this weapon from the first game will return in Splatoon 2. Its special will be the Splashdown.
