Nintendo is back with a new firmware update for Switch, and version 16.1.0 is starting to go live for all users.
We’re in the twilight stage of the system’s lifecycle, so it may not come as much of a surprise that no new functionality has been added. Once again, Nintendo is highlighting stability improvements.

Sea of Stars confirmed for physical release on Switch

A physical release of Sea of Stars is in the works for Switch, iam8bit and Sabotage Studio have revealed. A release is planned for early 2024 in both North America and Europe.
Sea of Stars will be making its digital debut in just over a week. Thankfully, fans are being given an early heads up that a physical version will be made available later on.

Cult of the Lamb reveals Don’t Starve Together crossover update

Starting today, Cult of the Lamb players can access a special update featuring a crossover event with Don’t Starve Together.
One of the main attractions is a new Penitence mode, which has the Lamb needing to eat and sleep to survive, along with their followers. However, there’s a unique Webber follower form that will never die of starvation.

Charles Martinet is not involved with Super Mario Bros. Wonder, according to an official statement shared by Nintendo.
Earlier today, the company announced that Martinet is stepping back from voicing characters in its games. As part of that, he’ll now be a “Mario Ambassador”.

Pikmin 4, a new release for the month, managed to debut at #6. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom moves down from #4 the previous month to #7, but is still selling strong.

Super Bomberman R 2 to feature Fall Guys collaboration

Konami today announced a special collaboration for Super Bomberman R 2, with Fall Guys set to be featured in the game. You’ll be able to play as “Bean Bomber”, it’s been announced.
The character will be available at launch and can be obtained through the in-game shop. Bean Bomber is accessible is each battle mode.

The Smurfs 2: The Prisoner of the Green Stone release date set for November, debut trailer

Original (6/26): Thanks to Microids and Osome Studio, we have a final release date for The Smurfs 2: The Prisoner of the Green Stone. The game is heading to Switch on November 2, 2023.
The 3D action adventure platformer was previously announced for Switch in May. Microids originally shared a Q4 2023 release window.
Nintendo planning Multiplayer Festival for Switch in Europe

Original (7/28): Nintendo has announced a new Multiplayer Festival for Europe that will be taking place on Switch throughout August.
During the event, players can earn double the Gold Points earned on select games and hundreds of first-party and third-party games will be on sale. On top of that, Nintendo Switch Online members can play three multiplayer games for free starting the August 25 until the end of the festival.
