Super Smash Bros. Ultimate version 9.0.0

Nintendo just released the new version 9.0.0 update for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It can be downloaded immediately by going to the Switch home menu, selecting the icon without starting the game, pressing the + or – button on your controller, choosing “Software Update”, and finally “Via the Internet”.

As a reminder, the new Steve / Alex Minecraft DLC is the highlight of today’s update, which ties in with Fighters Pass Vol. 2. Those that buy the latest content can also access the Minecraft World stage. Additionally, new Mii Fighter costumes can be purchased separately, including Travis Touchdown from No More Heroes.

Nintendo has announced the latest Spirit Board event for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. This time around, spirits with big ears will be featured. Take down these characters to earn more snacks.

The new event goes live on October 16. Expect it to last for a total of three days.

Overwatch - Halloween Terror 2020

Blizzard has brought back Halloween Terror as the latest event in Overwatch. Players have the opportunity to get involved new cosmetics, weekly rewards, and new challenges from Junkenstein’s Revenge.

XSEED Games shared new information about Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin in a blog post today. The game’s various characters have been introduced, which also comes with the announcement of the voice cast.

Axiom Verge 2

When Axiom Verge 2 was announced last December, it was planned for a Fall 2020 launch. Unfortunately, that will no longer be happening. Creator Thomas Happ confirmed in a blog post today that the project has shifted to the first half of 2021.

Happ indicated that Axiom Verge 2 is a bigger game to develop than its predecessor. The new title will feature more sophisticated enemies, a tool like the Address Disruptor from the original “that gives the player more control over the outcome”, and a “more complex” visual style.

Civilization VI

The next free update for Civilization VI will be offered to all players on October 22, 2K and Firaxis have announced. It will include the new unique multiplayer scenario “Pirates” as well as some balance changes, AI updates and more.

Samurai Shodown

SNK and Dark Horse are teaming up on a massive book to celebrate Samurai Shodown. Spanning nearly 300 pages with almost 700 documents and illustrations, The Art of Samurai Shodown offers a look into the making of the Switch fighter.

It appears that Dark Horse’s book is based on what was originally created by Pix’n Love Publishing. However, this will now have a worldwide release.

Hardcore Mecha

Hardcore Mecha was already confirmed to be receiving a physical release in Asia, but now the same can be said of the west as well. Red Art Games announced a partnership with RocketPunch Games and Lightning Games for a physical version overseas.

Pre-orders open on October 15 for €39.99. Red Art Games will be accepting reservations here, and only 2,800 copies will be produced.

The physical version of Hardcore Mecha from Red Art Games is scheduled for Q1 2021.
